"I booked a room for a wedding along the road and called ahead to explain that one member of our party was in a wheelchair and another had walking difficulties, so we needed ground floor rooms with accessible showers. However, we were not informed that the rooms were located in an old outside building instead of the pub itself. Upon arrival, we were shocked to find that the accommodation was not suitable for our group, as there were three steep stone steps with no support rails to access the rooms. One of our party actually fell while trying to navigate these steps, resulting in injuries to their ankle, knee, and head. My husband had to assist me, as well as my sister and her husband, who has limited mobility, in and out of the rooms. The rooms were very basic, with long cables running from the front door to the TV on the wall and draped over the radiator. Our bathroom was located up a steep flight of stairs, which was potentially dangerous for me during the night. For breakfast, we were only offered a sparse selection of cereal, a refillable bottle of unknown milk, and one carton of orange juice. We opted to have breakfast at a local cafe down the road, which we found to be delicious and highly recommended. Confusion also arose regarding the checkout time, as there was no information displayed in the room except for fire instructions. After contacting the staff, we were initially told checkout was at 9:00 AM, but later informed it was at 10:00 AM. The saving grace of our stay was the evening meal, which was freshly prepared and very tasty."

"Very disappointing experience at the Jolly Postie in Royston. Booked a table on a Monday night for the Half price pizza offer that we verified was available before we booked , but on arrival was told they had no dough so pizzas weren 't available. A bit of a schoolboy error on a night when Pizzas are supposedly on special offer, but these things happen. We therefore ordered from the normal menu at full price , but when we left we noticed other tables including a family we know with a booking more than an hour after us DID have pizza! Why claim you have no dough and then serve others pizza....? I can only assume some kind of cynical attempt to increase profits by advertising offers that are then denied to customers..? I referred the matter to head office, and they advised the diners who got pizza after us had somehow pre ordered it . Strange.... we weren 't offered the opportunity to pre order, or contacted pre arrival to reserve pizza...? I have been offered a voucher off my next visit, but this is not acceptable, the value offered is too low, My not unreasonable expectation is a 50% refund of what I paid to mirror the offer we were wrongfully denied. You claim in your response you are sorry and learning lessons , yet your formal response to me was clearly a cut and paste job that even quoted my experience at the wrong pub...What a mess... Why not just accept you were wrong and do what I have not unreasonably suggested? I have lived in Royston over 20 years and eaten here many times and won 't again. I estimate we purchased more than 50 pizzas from you, as we 'll as eating in 5 or 6 times in the last year alone, yet you seem happy to throw away that business? Frankly I 'll be happy to use Dominos a couple of doors down for pizza. Furthermore, most restaurants prepare dough fresh daily, so why didn 't you obtain prepare some more after a busy weekend remember we 're debating about Monday night... ? You are in a competitive sector with Wetherspoons also a few doors away, as well as several other close by, mid range competitor options including The Banyers , and Old Bull Hotel , both of whom do what they say on the tin in my experience, unlike the Jolly Postie. I therefore suggest those reading this simply go elsewhere."
