"We had booked a twin room. The accommodation is separate to the pub and is located at the side of the garden and car park in converted buildings, maybe stables or other outhouses. There are three separate rooms, a twin, a double, and a family...room. The twin appeared to be the smallest of the three. The room is described as being which was something I missed when booking, so imagine a standard garage, and chop it in half, that's the size of your room! Just long enough to get two singles beds in, plus a small table for tea coffee. There is a small plastic chair at the bottom of the bed on the other side, but this blocks access to the power sockets, which are low down close to the floor. There was only a small rail in an adjoining cupboard to hang your clothes, and there was no light in there. The bathroom was equally as small, with nowhere to put any personal toiletries, or even anywhere to hang hand towels. The lady who greeted us on our first night (she must have been waiting just for us as we were the only ones staying) was rather abrupt. It was just this is your room, here are your keys, breakfast is in there (pointing to the access door), and if you need anything just ring the number for the pub, and she was off. There was no local tourist information in the room (nowhere to put it anyway), nor was there any that I was in the pub. It may well be that the two other rooms are better, but they are all in the same accommodation block."

"This is our 13th year coming to holt for new year and have visited feathers every year. Some years even going to the New Year’s Eve party. Since this fine pub has been taken over we have seen numerous changes that haven’t been for the better but have just let them go. However upon visiting this year with the family for a meal, I just had to leave a review about my utter distaste for out and out profiteering. There were 5 adults and 3 kids all having meals and drinks. No starters just mains and we had four deserts. We had a few drinks of which the prices are rather high for a village pub. The meals were ok but as other people have stated in reviews pretty basic for the price. When the bill came it was in excess of £330, which I was shocked at but not overly, but upon review I’d noticed they had charged £2.40 for a cordial with tap water! I thought this was wrong so questioned the waiter. He then got the manager who in turn stated this in fact was correct and couldn’t do anything about it! Why didn’t she just knock it off the bill as a good will gesture as surely she could see how wrong this was and how much we were paying.I’m sorry feathers management but the charge for the cordial is totally immoral and a complete rip off! You’re charging £2.40 for one measure of cordial which is more than the actual value of a bottle. This whole event was a shame and should have been sorted by an efficient manager but it wasn’t and has left a massive distaste in our mouth."

"What a disappointment. Haven 't been here for some time, and we were so looking forward to our visit based on our previous experiences. On arrival, we were surprised at the scruffy waiting staff. A miniscule pickle selection was brought to us along with a couple of poppadoms. We were asked if we wanted drinks, and I requested a bottle of sparkling water. The waitress returned to say the bottles hadn 't been put in the fridge... I requested tap water instead, l was later asked if the bottle was now cold enough? no! From our seats i observed customers struggling to get in and out of the toilet, I realised the issue was due to the storage of a high chair in front of the door! We put in our orders with the waitress; when our starters arrived, my husband was brought the wrong dish. The waitress shouted at the owner ? that 'he didn 't want it '. Obviously, it took some time to prepare his starter, by which time I 'd finished mine. Our mains arrived. This time, my husband had requested the chicken option but was served the more expensive lamb version. We decided to say nothing as we didn 't want to repeat our first course experiences! We had ordered Onion Bhajis as a side, which I would definitely question whether they were homemade as they were like hard golf balls! We ordered 2 coffees, whilst waiting a large mixed age group arrived and sat themselves all over the restaurant. The ones next to us then proceeded to let their child play a loud game on his IPad. One would have hoped the staff would have requested they desist. The group proceeded to call out to each other with no regard for other customers. The 2 waiting staff and owner struggled to deal with taking their orders and appeared to have completely forgotten their other customers... We asked again for our coffees, which eventually arrived. The disturbance created by the new customers meant we rushed our coffee so we could leave. The main food was pleasant, but the chaos ruined the meal. The prices remain high, but the food and restaurant as a whole do not justify these charges! It is unlikely we will return here, Parking: The nearest car park is about 10 mins walk away and is free after 6pm"
