"First off our experiences of eating their main meals have in the main been good, however their breakfasts are a different story. For the third and final time today we were served breakfasts that BOTH had different items missing. My wife’s missing her eggs, mine missing bacon and a sausage. The eggs we were served were shrivelled up to the point of cremation and the thimble of baked beans hardly warrant it being called a big breakfast. The drinks station was also as ever lacking fresh milk, with the member of staff I asked about a refill pointing me to another station where again that had a thimbles worth of milk left in it. The server (who was covering from another branch) was cracking, polite and professional and rectified immediately. He stated that the chefs were rude to him when he informed them of the missing items, blaming him for taking it too soon. If that’s the case then who was responsible for the last two times stuff was missing?? The bacon is also borderline anaemic and undercooked to the point of tasting like a rasher of ham. Why this branch can’t cook a decent breakfast I don’t know, especially as the numerous times we have eaten main meals there have always been fine. Having made a special trip there today to get there for brekkie and being served that lukewarm rubbish I can say I won’t be back for another. The reason for the 2 star is because as a branch I like the atmosphere, the toilet facilities and have had some decent main meals in there. Breakfasts I’ll score a 0. Thanks again to the mail server who was covering today (15/2) his humour, courtesy was well received by us and we noted he was equally as polite and friendly to other customers"

"This is the second time I've been to this branch and it never ceases to disappoint. Grandsons 11th birthday treat. Can't book a table during the Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 50% off days. Not a big problem as we arrived in good time. Staff not warm and welcoming. There were 4 of us and we were asked a few times by the same person if we wanted a table for four of us. The food took a long time to arrive. Grandsons ice cream cane. The tea and coffee ordered arrived 10 minutes later. This happened the last time we came last year. Nothing seems to arrive all at once, you think you're order has been forgotten. The floor beneath the counter was noticeably dirty. The napkins that the Cutlery was wrapped in was actually dirty, with things stuck to them from someone else's order. The worst was the loo. The wall beneath the hand drier was really filthy and the sink hadn't been cleaned for a while by the look of it. I mentioned this to the staff at the till. (Some wearing masks some with masks beneath their noses, some wearing them like a chin strap) the hand drier in the mens loos didn't work. Bearing in mind we are in the middle of a pandemic where cleanliness ought to be a priority, this was sadly lacking. If that's what's on show it makes me wonder what is hidden behind the counter. Better staff training and cleanliness of the premises would be a good start. Also, paper menus to avoid cross contamination may be something they could consider too. Could be amazing but just isn't."

"Old fashioned real country pub with lovely, hardworking staff and a good vibe. Plenty of on-site parking. Service was rather slow but they were busy and all staff working flat out to please customers. Draught beers and ciders very good Loved the Haze cider.Great pint. The roast chicken dinners were excellent with the exception of the gravy which was really watery. A good gravy is a key ingredient to a Sunday roast. Please sort this out Charging extra for Yorkshire puddings seemed unnecessary Give everybody one, then charge for additional ones if people want more. We have never eaten out and not has a Yorkshire pudding included with a roast dinner. Cauliflower cheese was extra too. But this has become the norm. The liver and onions with mashed potatoes was a masterpiece Amazing thick tasty gravy with this great traditional dish. The ribeye steak was cooked medium, not medium rare as requested. The jacket potato was good. It had come from the oven not the microwave I’m pleased to say. The homemade peppercorn sauce was thin, watery and tasteless. I sent it back as it wouldn’t coat the steak as it was so thin. This was replaced with an identical jug of inedible watery sauce, unfortunately, which couldn’t be eaten. So the most expensive main course on the menu was a real disappointment and can’t be recommended, but the other meals were delicious and good sized portions representing value for money. The only home made dessert was the apple and raspberry crumble, which 3 of us chose. This was good and plentiful. The passion fruit cheesecake was enjoyed too. Definitely worth trying the Failand Inn if you haven’t eaten there before."
