"I was passing through and desperate for something swift to eat. I’d heard good things about this place. So I thought I’d give them a try. Well, they must of either been having a bad day or they are not as good as I’d heard. I phoned ahead to order, told them I was collecting and that I’d be about 10 minutes. When ordering I found the staff member to rude. His words were “anything else, I’m busy” I’d only given one item of my order. I then asked for something they obviously didn’t offer, I was made to feel stupid over the phone, I told them not to worry and made my order clearer, minus what I’d originally asked for. I ordered 2 meals. The food was ready for when I arrived, which made me happy as I was starving by that point. I had a polite at the start but somewhat interrupted conversation with the man behind the counter. He answered the phone whilst I was talking to him without any acknowledgment or apology to me so I paid, took my food and left. When I arrived at my destination to eat with a friend the order was wrong. If the member of staff had only listened in the first place when I called rather than telling me he was “busy” he would have got my order correct. I had the wrong meat, chilli sauce and I hadn’t asked for sauce. I asked for extra salad and I got no salad at all and to top it all I was probably over charged as well for what I’d received. Very poor. I would avoid this place. I will in future. I’d rather get a sandwich from the local supermarket. A real shame, I was expecting good things."

"Great location, can’t say the same about the service, and can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get any. It is a very rare occasion when I would leave a negative review on anything, I am patient and tend to give the benefit of the doubt to most people/places however… After sitting about 10 minutes waiting at a table, watching others getting served, no one had come near us, so I approached a group of waiters who were standing talking, one of whom seemed to be in charge, and I politely asked if it was ok to drop in without a reservation as my wife and I had, and I checked incase I needed to order at the bar or something. I was told it was fine, and someone would be with us shortly. Needless to say, again, no one came near us, and we watched as other tables who had come in well after us were attended to, and got their food, and were actually served by some of the staff that I had spoken to, yet still we sat there basically ignored by everyone. After about another 15-20 minutes of this we just got up and left. After 20-25 minutes sitting at a table with 2 menus and not even so much as a cold drink on the table, someone out of the 4-5 waiters and manager/person in charge walking past us serving others, even after I had spoken to them, surely someone would have noticed that we had not been attended to, but no. Very poor service indeed. Won’t be back."

"I am a local resident in the area and had never noticed this café before. While I was waiting for my medication at the neighboring pharmacy, I decided to grab a drink and a pastry. I ordered a fizzy Elderflower drink and a pastry, which surprisingly costed just under £10! Despite the high price, I paid for it and went to the back of the café, which seemed to be a back room. Unfortunately, the café's decor was not appealing at all. They went for a mismatched look, but it was clear that they had not invested much in the decor, making it unappealing. Additionally, there was a strong smell of old greasy food in the air. I sat down at a table, sipped my drink, which was okay, and started on the pastry. It was disappointing and definitely not worth the price. It seemed like they bought the pastry cheaply and charged a high markup. The menu prices were also shockingly high. I compared it to a farm shop called Eggs to Apples a few miles away, which has higher prices but offers good food, excellent service, and well-decorated dining area. The Greedy Goat café charging similar prices didn't make sense to me. I left the café feeling ripped off and carrying the remainder of my Elderflower drink, leaving the pastry behind. I am disappointed with the quality of the food and feel like I could have cooked better at home. I strongly recommend avoiding this place as it just seems like a typical greasy spoon."

"My friend, who was visiting from The Netherlands, wanted to experience a “traditional meal in a traditional pub”. Most establishments now advertise themselves as gastro pubs, which wasn’t what we were looking for. Having read the most recent reviews and looked at the menu we selected ‘The **** Inn’ in Peasmarsh. My friend ordered from the section entitled ‘pub classics’, selecting Steak Ale Pie which was described as (presumably served with) “Creamy Mashed Potato Seasonal Vegetables” for £15 As a vegan who is wheat intolerant my own choice was very limited but I’m used to this. There was no indication that any dishes were gluten free, although there was the standard notice regarding allergens “please make us aware when ordering food” I did query one dish which turned out not to be gluten free and took a stab in the dark and selected “a trio of sausages’ which was served with ‘beans and chips’. The beans turned out, not surprisingly. to be baked beans. We ordered cola light and bitter lemon to drink. The drinks were fine but when my friend ordered a second glass of bitter lemon he couldn’t drink it he said it tasted as if someone had squirted washing up liquid into the glass. Both hot meals arrived on cold plates. Neither looked remotely appetising. The pastry on the steak pie was pale and insipid, (it looked undercooked) and was served with gravy, a dollop of overcooked cabbage and carrots. There was a round of what looked like potato mashed with parsnip or onions. What I had thought was either parsnip or onions turned out to be just lumps of potato. So much for the ‘creamy’ mashed potato and ‘seasonal’ vegetables. Carrot and cabbage cannot, surely, be described as ‘seasonal, vegetables’ in August or does seasonable now mean vegetables that are available whatever the season? My meal was so poor that I left most of it. Both sausages and crinkle chips were obviously straight out of the freezer: some of the chips were hot but too many were barely warm and the baked beans were cold. The sausages, however, had been heated to within an inch of their lives: hot but hard, dried up and tasteless. I was charged £12 for this! When I went to pay, the barmaid, who was friendly enough, asked if we had enjoyed our meal. I replied “Not really” and went on to describe the state of my meal. “Oh we always serve on cold plates and you should have told me about the cold food and I would have heated it up for you”. I didn’t mention the soapy drink as I felt it was up to my friend to make his own complaints as I hadn’t actually tasted either the drink or his meal but he (and I) just wanted to leave there as fast as possible. My advice to prospective diners is: read ALL the reviews before you go there. We should have done. The claim on their website is “It's important to us that we serve the best quality food we can to our customers”. All I can say is “Really?”"
