"Went for lunch today having not been to the Kentish Horse for many years. Traditional British Pub with very friendly welcoming bar staff. Interior unchanged, just how we remembered it, lovely large garden. Having had enjoyable meals here before we were slightly disappointed today. The pub wasn't busy but we had what we considered a long wait for two main meals. A Ploughman's with Brie and Stilton was ordered, which came with just the Brie,(even though the barman wrote it down) it would of been better value with a baguette rather than a roll. The chips that were ordered to go with The Steak Roll were over cooked too! My husband asked for a bottle of diet coke, he had started chatting with locals at the bar and didn't notice he had been given an all most flat glass of pump coke. No desserts were ordered but an Irish coffee was that was barely warm. Okay they are all simple things that could of been corrected if brought to the attention of staff, but if they were on the ball they wouldn't need correcting!!"

"First visit to this Indian Restaurant and actually very good, we are a bit fussy with Indian food : Really looking forward to going back again and trying some different dishes. The Pathia was great as was the Tarka Dall. Service was unhurried and calm. Not too expensive, good portion sizes and served with a smile. Clean and fresh environment. Thank you Edit: Came back, tried the chicken tamarind. Would better as a small side dish, lovely dish but after 2 mouthfuls was a bit too much. Don't forget your coat as it was freezing inside. "My wife, myself and our grownup daughter had lunch here a couple of days ago. The pub used to be called 'The Black Boy ' which my wife and I used when we were courting 55 years ago. Price 's have changed since then but first impression on walking in ,was it was like a pub should be. Basic furniture, spacious and welcoming. I found the menu a pleasant change from the usual pub menu, a little quirky which was good. I had Welsh Rarebit, my wife and daughter had Ploughman 's sandwich. They were brilliantly presented and adequate. The rest of the menu was interesting and made a good change from the usual pub menus."

"Without doubt the worst roast dinner I have ever eaten. My partner and I had high hopes having read reviews, but what we were served up wasn’t fit for man nor dog. Stunning view out the back of the pub. We ordered two roast lambs and were served up two plates of Luke warm food. The roast potatoes must have been cooked last night and left under the heater since, they were rock solid and had we thrown them at the window I’m sure they’d have done some damage. The lamb had more fat that meat on it and the veg had clearly been cooked a long time ago, all served up with a pint of bistro’s best gravy drowning the plate. On paying the bill the lady behind the bar didn’t ask how the food was and so I explained to her how bad it was and her response was thanks very much.. Customer service was non existent apart from the young guy who did try to offer us a Yorkshire pudding to replace the “roast potatoes” We arrived and left within 30 mins of getting there.. that says it all. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3"

"We had pre booked as part of a seniors group. We paid a deposit and was asked to order a few weeks beforehand from the menu we were sent. My husband and I ordered a nut roast Sunday lunch. Apparently, although we weren’t told, the nut roast wasn’t available but they would give us a vegetarian alternative. We were given a vegetable flan which consisted of courgettes, peppers and other veg in a tomato sauce. Not something I would have ordered if I had been aware. With chips? No served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables and gravy! Really not nice. When we questioned it, we were told it was the only vegetarian option that day. Apparently the roast beef dinners others had were not too good with the beef being rather tough. To add insult to injury, we tried to work out the costs from the website, to find the meals were about 50% higher than prices quoted on there. We had to pay £15 each for our horrible flan Sunday roast meal. Really not acceptable. We were told they can’t guarantee what is on the menu from day to day. So why ask for a pre order? Such a shame as it is a lovely pub and they were very helpful and caring when one of our party was poorly. Please whoever us in charge at the Crown, sort your website out and try to have more consistency in your menu if you are going to ask for pre orders."

"What a great find; a lovely restaurant starting with a warm welcome, good background music and an extensive menu. We chose spaghetti vongole and a mix of fish and seafood baked in tin foil, the portions were large and absolutely delicious. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant and hope to go back again when in the area."

"We visited this place after a recommendation from The Castle Inn as their kitchen was closed already. We were greeted at the door, and we knew straight away the whole experience in this pub would be fantastic. As it was already late Sunday afternoon hours, their roast selection was limited, but we managed to get the last whole chicken roast with all the trimmings. It was a very good choice, and our family of 2 adults and 1 child had very generous portions. The food was delicious, however not enough green vegetables for me (mangetout, cabbage or something else). Gravy was full of flavour and came in a big pot, so it was plenty. As mentioned before, staff was very attentive and checked on us from time to time, so high five to them! The whole experience was great and will definitely be back when in the area. See you soon."

"During a previous visit, I had a pleasant Friday evening here with friends. We tried some delicious cocktails at a great value, as well as a nice bottle of red wine. I would recommend trying one of their sharing platters, such as the cheese board or the olive platter. The staff and owners were very welcoming and took care of us during our visit. We had reserved a table for 6, initially planning to sit outside, but moved upstairs when it started to rain. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning. Parking is available for free behind the building. The service, food, and atmosphere all receive a perfect score of 5. The price per person ranges from £10-£20 for a dine-in meal."

"This is a fantastic garden center and farm shop. Some items can be a bit on the pricey side. Update: I just returned from taking the kids to see Santa, and it was a wonderful experience for them. Santa read a story to all the children before having a personal chat with each one, or with their siblings. Afterwards, the elves brought in gifts for everyone."

"I visited this restaurant with friends for a “catch up” meal. Firstly, some of the last reviews say it’s the best Indian in Swanley however that isn’t hard to win as this restaurant is probably the only one now considering the others have closed down/knocked down so that wouldn’t be accurate to comment on. We arrived at our booked table at 7pm. The restaurant was busy with people also coming and going a lot to collect takeaways, however that wasn’t too much of an issue. I found the restaurant was very smart with how they operate. An example being is how long it takes for the staff to take your order and also the time is takes for the food to arrive. So we arrived at 7pm and ordered our food at 8pm. The food then arrived around 9pm. The restaurant was that busy where the orders wouldn’t of took that long and it felt that it was all part of the “order more drinks” as the staff are constantly at your table asking if you want more drinks which is smart, yet annoying but be mindful of that. The food was nice however when it did eventually arrive and i have no complaints about that. It was a bit pricey however and the staff were genuinely friendly and you also receive a “complimentary drink” when you have paid your bill. Would i go back? Yeah probably as the food was nice but i would just be mindful of the service and order more quickly."

"I had a Sunday work commitment in the Sevenoaks area and had some time to kill I searched Best Sunday Roast in Sevenoaks and The Bucks Head came up first with great reviews and very close by. It did not disappoint! I arrived with...plenty of parking available, super welcoming staff, a cosy environment and quick table service. Would highly recommend the Pork Roast with crispy crackling loved it. Then went out to the front garden to enjoy the sunny weather and a pint followed by a walk in the woods/behind the golf course just across the road. Excellent pub, great location, lovely staff."

"Second time here and I must say still perfect. The staff are professional and polite. Nothing to much bother and made to feel welcome. We all had different items from the menu, and each was delicious. Too marks to the chef. Probably the best dinning experience for a long long time. Prices were more than fair for the quality of food and beautiful location. I’ve paid a lot more for really quite inferior meals. Well done all and keep up these fantastic standards. More than happy to pay for service here. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"The dining experience was marred by a group of loud men swearing, which took away from an otherwise wonderful meal. It would have been appreciated if the staff had intervened and requested that they consider other patrons in the restaurant. Overall, the food was excellent, with a rating of 5, while the service was good with a rating of 4. The atmosphere, however, was diminished by the noisy group, resulting in a rating of 3. The price per person for dinner was between £20-30."

"Wow, I couldn't believe my luck when I found out this Indian restaurant is dog friendly! The place is nice, the food is decent, and the service is good. We started with the mixed kebab, which was served on a sizzler plate. It was okay, but the onions and meat were a bit burnt. For our mains, we had chicken Nagri and Lamb Jalfrezi. The chicken was delicious, but the Jalfrezi didn't taste like any I've had before. Despite that, it was still tasty."

"Lot of hype on the Christmas special menu and we a team of 20+ colleagues went for team dinner. Most of the colleagues expressed their food was just okay ! Staff were trying their best but they are young and need to pay more attention to guests No space for parking as this on the main road closed by a junction in Esher. "I have just got back from an unfortunately VERY disappointing meal here today. I was recommended this place by a friend who said the food was great, and as it is so local to me we thought we would try. However, we went in and first off the only menu was a Sunday one which just offered various meats with standard roast accompaniments, no matter o chose a steak as it said it came with chips and onion rings. My first mistake. Secondly we ordered some bread and olive oil and balsamic dip. And a lamb shank. It took 53 minutes for the kitchen to send out our order and we didn’t even get the bread and olive oil to pick on. We had to ask a very rushed looking waitress how long table 59 would be, and could we at least have our bread and dip. She went in and came out another 5 minutes later with two plates one with bread and oil and another with some kind of pate on it. I said straight away we hadn’t ordered it so she took it away and then reappeared 5 minutes later carrying the same plate and saying that we had in fact paid for it so it was ours. No refund or apology was offered so I graciously said ok, we will try it. It was AWFUL, really warm pate and the bread was dry. Awful. Now onto the mains; My steak turned up with peas which I did not order. It was also bland and unseasoned and was brought dry with no sauce options or anything. I ate a few mouthfuls and ate 5 chips and I honestly couldn’t eat anymore as it was just tasteless and chewy. The lamb shank was ok, the gravy with it had no flavour at all and there was no salt or pepper offered or on the table at all . We waited another 35 mins and no one came over to check or ask us if everything was ok. In the end. We got so fed up we left. I am incredibly disappointed, I never moan or put up reviews but I actually feel seriously unhappy that a meal for two cost me £65 in a mediocre setting and was flavourless. That combined with being charged for a starter neither of us would ever order in a million years and the fact we had to clear our own table and dust ash off of it gave me an experience I’m massively unhappy about. For a restaurant with apparent 4 stars online it was mediocre at best. And that is only because the lamb shank and a few mushrooms on my plate were edible and I was hungry! I really would like to hear back from someone, and for you to morally do the right thing and have my ‘unordered’ starter refunded back to me at some point. I have no issue in returning in the future however I would like some assurance that the whole experience will be far better and that all the issues here are addressed to give me an incentive to come back again."

"First time diners. Us three girlfriends decided to give it a go and we’re not disappointed. We hadn’t booked but they quickly found a table next to the roaring fire. Lovely. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Sharon was our waitress and she was a star. She sorted out a lovely meal for my gluten free friend. I will definitely be visiting again this time with my husband. Thank you. Price per person: £20–30"

"One of my favourite pubs in Kent. I travel up to 45 minutes out of my way to stop for a meal. The food is always excellent, especially for such a price point and the selection of beverages very large and of great quality. Special mention to the rotating selection of local beers ales, always a new gem to discover at each visit. The staff is very professional and kind, and have always me feel welcomed and wanting to return back. The pub is fully dog friendly and 4-legged friends will be looked after equally as attentively as hooman patrons, and may even get their drink first with free nibbles "

"We came here for coffee a few weeks ago, and I spotted the menu. Today we came for lunch. Delicious food. The pub is old, very pretty, with flowers in the garden, and on the tables. A good place to bring visitors to show them old England. We ordered a burger, a halloumi burger and the fish and chips. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was really nice, and more than we could eat. It was slightly pricey compared to other places, but given the setting I felt it was worth the price. I had the malteser cheesecake, which was perfect. Am tempted to return often, just for dessert and coffee (not sure if that’s allowed). Everything seemed clean, including the washrooms. Definitely worth a visit."

"I have been a frequent visitor for a number of years and cannot speak highly enough of it. A terrific place for an evening meal, lunch or sociable drink, with lovely decor and atmosphere. Even when they are busy the staff are always very welcoming and attentive and ensure you are never waiting long to be served. Also it’s a well run and managed venue which helps ensure your visit is always positive."
