Popped in after a splendid few hours at hever castle , wife had hake which had been recommended, I had the south coast haddock and chips , lovely size portion tho my wife had to order fries to build her meal , food tasted lovely

Dropped in on the way back from Hever lovely gardens but as the weather was changeable we sat inside. The pub is very old and I'd imagine in the winter the atmosphere with the proper fire is amazing. The food and menu are ambitious and all in all the food is good. Visualizza piatti

Delicious food beautifully presented and were very accommodating of dietary needs. They offer a wonderful wine list. We had great service inside and out, with stunning ‘tents’ in the beautiful garden.Thoroughly recommend eating there, if not just a drink in this most picturesque English pub!

We had a delicious meal at this pretty country pub. We had a friendly greeting on arrival and found all the staff very good and efficient. The menu was fairly limited but the food was excellent and we did not have too long to wait for it even though they were very busy. It was a lovely atmosphere at this very old country pub full of history. It completed our enjoyable stay at Hever Castle. Would recommend.

Lovely food here. Had to sit outside as every table inside was taken. Surely a good sign of quality. Never had white bait the way the serve it here and the sea bass meal was delicious. I would have liked something potato with the meal as it wasn’t filling enough as it was. On this occasion I had my wife’s Yorkshire from her roast that she didn’t want and a roast potato. We called in for lunch without a reservation and were greeted warmly, being offered a table inside or outside; we opted for a table in the wood-beamed interior. There is a wide selection of drinks available, including four local real ales. I opted for an excellent beer from the Westerham Brewery. The service was friendly, attentive and professional. The food was delicious; we both had one of the best burgers that we have encountered anywhere at a very reasonable price. Despite arriving pretty early, they had run out of several items on the menu, which as vegetarians left us short on choices. We ended up going for the wild mushroom risotto, as a main and we got a small bowl of fairly bland risotto, who 's saving grace was that the rice was cooked quite well. There was no cheese board so I was left actually still pretty hungry. We were then made to feel that they were closing as they were going around the tables doing those end of evening things, which made us uncomfortable as we were still enjoying drinks and a chat. We made a reservation for 7pm at this restaurant, which closes at 8.30pm on Sundays. Upon arrival, we were surprised that they seemed unaware of our booking and were seated in a corner far from the main dining area. The table was sticky and could have been cleaner. The meal started off well with tasty Tempura prawns, but the fish and chips were mediocre and the Roast Chicken dish was incorrect. It took about 15 minutes for the mistake to be rectified, resulting in the Fish and Chips going cold. The presentation of the Roast Chicken was unappealing, piled onto a small plate with large chunks of potato and extra slices of overdone stuffing thrown on top.
