"We arrived on time for our table and there was a slight mix up as presumably some people had asked to change tables so we got a table with no view. We ordered some wine and other drinks which too quite a long time to come. Orders taken and then the wait started !! The restaurant has nice decor with good furnishings, looked clean and utensils to a high standard. Such a pity the same could not be said about the food. It took an hour to get our food to us and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. The seabass was cooked to death, arriving as a dried up unappetising two filets of fish. The skin had turned to leather rather than a crispy delicacy and the white meat was no longer edible being dried out.I can only assume it had been sitting on the pass for ages under hot lamps as the plate was red hot and all the moisture had gone from the plate. Plating was to a poor standard with closed cockles served (where is the quality control). They were also gritty so presumably unwashed. Seabass promptly sent back, no visit from the owner who seemed very disinterested and was micromanaging staff. This was returned to the kitchen but again no interest from the owner, just a gleeful announcement that I wouldn't be charged for the food LOL. The duck was similarly prepared, again cooked to a leathery death, it makes you wonder why the food was cooked too long when there were people waiting. Duck should be pink with rendered fat, at least ask the customer or pre-warn them that you are going to cremate the poor duck breast. We all got to taste the efforts and all agreed with these observations. Chicken was well cooked thankfully although so little to visually please the diner, it was all the same bland colour. The enjoyment of food is helped by appealing visual presentation, not so here. Good points were hard to find after such a lot of disappointing late main dishes. The wine list was encouraging and gave a good cross section In summary its probably going to be put down as an anomaly but for us the Waters Edge is a poor example of the dining experience and appears to have fallen into the trap of not believing you have to try when you have captive tourist trade. Shame really, I remember when it used to be good there."

"I didn 't actually eat inside the resteraunt. Myself and a friend had actually heard of the resteraunt and thought we should drop by to have a look. The interior is furnished well and appears to be a well running establishment. My friend and I found ourselves needing a toilet, and , seeming as many areas were shutting, we thought to combine the drop for a W/C to scout for a future reservation. Before entering the toilets, I indeed politely asked a staff member to use the toilets. It is a free country, but manners should never be in short supply. They were happy with it. We went ahead, and on our exit, we checked the specials. Then, when exiting, another member of staff delivered a quick, backhanded comment. I was struck by them not even looking me in the face at least look me in the face! 'For future reference, the toilets here are only available to paying customers. ' The message was apt enough, yet the way she said it was filled with distain as though we were staining her establishment. You must never make future costumers feel like they are below you. I originally thought her to be a member of the public I never would have guessed her to be staff. No one else was dining at that moment in the resteraunt. I gave a short reply, and left, not wanting to bother with useless conversation. I later realised I had not told her we had asked to use the facilities and had not merely just barged in with antisocial behaviour on our minds. Perhaps my fault, then; a misunderstanding. But I was struck that she wasn 't more cooperative, as we had evidently asked, and were sure she must have heard. Well, some people are just difficult. Perhaps she was having a bad day, in a mediocre mood, and I hardly blame her for trying to uphold her establishment. But her crude and unfriendly manner disgruntled my friend, and has now resulted in him not wanting to return. We won 't. Money missed out on for them, thanks to the lack of hindsight by a bitter and overzealous staff member. Think before you speak. Communication obviously is not present at this resteraunt, and no doubt if she repeats such behaviour, her customers will decrease exponentially. I am sure, however, that the food is great. My friend had apologised; later, I told him not to apologise unless you have actually done something wrong!"

"The worst Christmas lunch ever. Only 2 serving over 50 people. Sat down at 12.45pm starters didn’t arrive until 1.50pm. Sat waiting for main course for over an hour. When it arrived it was very disappointing, 1 small Yorkshire, 1 ball of stuffing, a piece of cauliflower, a few carrots, broccoli, 1 tiny piece of roast parsnip, turkey was dry. No gravy, had to ask 3 times before it arrived by that time lunch was cold and could only manage to eat a few mouthfuls. Forgot to mention 2 roast potatoes which were so hard l couldn’t get my teeth in them, 2 new potatoes. By this time everyone was getting fed up, 1 table got up and left. I had my mum in a wheelchair and there wasn’t anyway l could get her to the toilet without tables and people having to get up and move. I had informed them twice that my mum would be in a wheelchair. By this time we decided to leave, 4pm still no desertto get my mum out a family had to get up move there table and chairs for us to get out. I also witnessed a table complaining about the service and the Landlady was very rude, no apology given. When my husband told them we were not staying and the food and service was very poor, they knocked £40 off a bill of a £180 bill. It wasn’t even worth a fiver what we had. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We are local people and have been to this place on many occasions but will never go in again and l’m sure there were others that felt the same. Thanks to them our family Christmas was ruined. My Christmas lunch at home consisted of a piece of cake and a sausage rolll would never recommend this pub, bad food, service and very rude peoplel did get a message from the landlord after putting a piece on Facebook apologising saying 3 staff had walked out. If they had told people perhaps people would have been understanding. If they treat their staff like they do their customers l’m not surprised they walked out"
