"My wife, a friend and I visited The Ram earlier today for lunch. We were made very welcome by the two young waitresses Emma and Tash. My wife and I chose the mint lamb shank with a choice of chips or boiled potatoes and seasonal vegetables and our friend the breaded scampi, chips and salad. Both my wife and I were highly impressed with the quality of the lamb shank not to mention the delicious chips and nicely cooked vegetables. I never give 100% since I don’t believe in absolute perfection but this meal scored 95% something which I have not experienced for a long, long time. Congratulations must go to the chef proprietor Melissa. Although our friend lives locally, we travelled from Gloucester which took about 30 minutes. I would not hesitate returning to this pub due to the staff and the high standard of food provided."

"Quality little pub with fantastic views of the Woodchester valley, food was excellent and timely, and good selection of drinks too. Staff are helpful and friendly and plenty of tables available. "This is a great pizza place. The staff are welcoming, the food uses good quality ingredients, and the owner is passionate about food, done right and is authentic in what he is doing. Too many places of this size knock out bland, anglicized pizzas. These are Italian in their approach, simple ingredients that do not need to be in your face to be flavoursome. I always chose a margarita for my first visit to any pizza place if they can do that well, the others will most likely be good as well. The standard sized pizza on hand stretched sour dough was a generous size, the large is a monster, at least 20 and a really impressive beast. They do something really sensible with the large pizzas, they treat it is quarters and you can have different topping on each quarter. Unless you have an unhealthy sized appetite, these large ones are for sharing the quarters approach reduces the risk of arguments and maximises the opportunity to try different toppings. The whole place is clean, well presented and feels good. What really impressed me was the fact that this place not only serves good honest food they do it with honesty and integrity. The group on the table next to me were also newbie to the place and they order two of the large. This was a mother, grandmother and two small kids. The Owner spotted that this was likely to be too much food and rather than cashing in on the order he sent over the large pizza serving board to show how big they really are. Needless to say, they reduced the order to one large and a standard. I left before they finished but I am beating there was at least half the big pizza left when they were stuffed. I will definitely be returning when I am in the area. Thanks for a great meal."

"Staying at the Excellent Calcot Manor, there is only so much 'Haute Cuisine ' you can take. So, following a recommendation we headed just down the road to The Tipputs Inn for some upmarket 'pub grub '. Anywhere with plenty of 'locals ' is always a good sign, from the welcoming atmosphere, helpful attentive staff and a menu that caters for all tastes and dietary requirements. While on the subject of the menu, your reviewer does like one that has the right number of starters and mains! Your reviewer and Mrs R went for the 'Tapas ', an inspired choice, but beware a healthy appetite is needed! Even more so if you add the dirty fries on the side Phew!! We could have rolled back to the hotel. A comprehensive dessert menu followed, but all we could manage was the very good local Ice cream. The Tipputs is off the beaten track, but definitely worth the detour. Being a Saturday night the pub was very busy, and bearing in mind they were a Chef down, they coped very well. Thanks folks! Highly Recommended."

"We had a family lunch at a local pub and eatery on the A46 in Stroud. Nearby activities include the town centre with shops, bowling, and a cinema, as well as access to the canal and scenic walks. There are good walks on open common land with amazing views just a short drive away. The pub is within a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre. The restaurant and bar offer a typical menu for a traditional pub, with well-cooked food sourced locally whenever possible. Despite being busy with Christmas parties, the service in the bar was efficient and friendly. The food was hot and delicious, with generous portion sizes. Our family particularly enjoyed the excellent pies and fish and chips. The pub also has off-road parking and a garden with a children's play area. Nearby Rodborough and Minchinhampton Commons, owned by the National Trust and designated as sites of special scientific interest, are great for walking and observing cattle grazing in the summer months. Overall, this pub is an ideal location for exploring the Stroud area, with a mix of town amenities and natural beauty nearby."

"Recommend a visit, polite staff, very helpful covering a relaxed atmosphere, only let down by a recent individual who wouldn’t take no for an answer and continued to be aggressive to staff- never had a problem in this establishment, well done to all working there."

"Went for lunch today 01/11/2023 with a group of 6 others. First time for a while because the last time I went, well over a year ago, the meals and whole demeanour of the place were really poor. I don 't ever expect too much of a place like this serving cheaply priced trad grub, but thought the quality of the food had improved slightly my order of a main course (all I had) was palatable (chicken ham pie), hot and filling but probably not very nourishing! We all thought the peas were undercooked. The decor needs updating and many of the tables and chairs replacing it 's shabby without the chic! "We had a table booked for 11 people at 13:00 for the set Sunday lunch menu (beef or asparagus and mint tart). We were going to have 8 vegetarian options and 3 beefs, but were told there weren't enough vegetarian portions. There were a total of 5 vegetarians among us, and some people that don't like beef. 3 people decided to change to the beef option, but there still weren't enough vegetarian options. I find it absolutely ridiculous that there were only 3 vegetarian tarts available at 13:00. When asked if we could supplement the tart with extra vegetables, we were denied. Absolutely horrible service and a severe lack of preparation. We decided to leave and won't come back. "This place has been our 'go to ' for fish and chips for years but the last 3 or 4 times the delivery has been late. Most recently it was an hour past the *end* of our delivery slot by the time it turned up really frustrating when we have a baby to put to bed. I rang up to complain and was told the manager would ring back to sort it out but they never did. I understand that they get busy, especially at the weekend, but why offer 15 minute delivery slots if you can 't fulfil them? The food by the time it got to us was like warm and past its best Service: Delivery Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £1–10 Food: 3 Service: 2"

"I visited in October 2021. A very welcome lunch after a great walk on the common. They welcome dogs which is just as well given the location but they really do like to see them. The food was good, I enjoyed the duck with was nice a pink, the skin could have been crisper in my opinion for the price. Dessert was tasty. I really the feel this restaurant has, lots of different rooms so it feels intimate and cosy. Great outdoor space for better weather too. I would recommend booking at the weekends."

"A brilliant evening. Great beer and excellent wines to accompany a super dinner. Very imaginative menu with good range of dishes. All the food was well presented and perfectly cooked with good portions at a most competitive price. I had the anchovies as a starter followed by the Lamb and potato pie (with lovely dauphinoise potatoes and vegetable selection) with Treacle tart as a dessert. My three friends chose different dishes, including the steak all of us were really impressed. The organic Merlot was a perfect accompaniment to the pie. The waiting staff were very attentive. I was on holiday, for a few days, in the Dursley area and this was a brilliant find. I wish they could open another one near to where I live in Kent. Thanks to everyone at the King's Head for a brilliant evening. I look forward to returning sometime in the future when I am next in the area."

"I recently visited the Christmas market in Gloucester and highly recommend it. On my way back, I stopped at the Fromebridge for a Sunday carvery, which was my first time trying it. I had a fantastic experience! There was a generous amount of meat—I chose turkey and gammon, both perfectly cooked. I also managed to pile on seven vegetables, three types of potatoes, and plenty of stuffing. Unfortunately, the pigs in blankets I ordered were supposed to be delivered to the table but never arrived, though it wasn't a big issue. My only suggestion would be to keep the vegetables warm, as they tend to get cold even under the heat lamps. A little extra heat would definitely enhance the meal. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and the staff were as attentive and friendly as ever."

"The Lord John offers a selection of clearly marked vegan options on their menu, mostly consisting of sides. They also have a tasty sweet potato and chickpea curry that I thoroughly enjoyed. For breakfast, they offer a simple yet satisfying option of toast and fruit for vegans. I did not have the opportunity to visit for lunch, but based on my experience, I would recommend trying their vegan options."

"The Vestry cafe has been a regular for me since I moved to Uley. The cafeteria is a cosy and bustling place with a moment of unstoppable tranquility. Charming when you go!A fabulous place for family and friends: I will usually try their fabulous Florentine eggs and Benedict for breakfast.Today I ate avocado with feta cheese and mint in barn and an egg staggered, absolutely fabulous. So pretty I had to make a picture! With a wide variety of teas, coffee and hot chocolate, there's something for everyone, including delicious homemade cakes?"

"Lovely sunny day, I decided to take my son to this place for an afternoon ice cream and a drink. The bar staff had no idea what they were doing. They didn 't know how to order a pudding on its own without a meal . They then struggled to find out the table number we were sitting on even though it was about 6m from the bar. We waited 45 minutes for our ice cream, and it never came out. The floors were sticky and the tables were dirty. We decided to cut our losses and leave without eating. We didn 't bother with a refund because it was enough of a challenge to get them to put it through the till for us to pay let alone get the money back Avoid at all costs. This place is a dive"

"We came in for lunch and left a little under-whelmed. Two friends ordered sandwiches which were epic and they had no issues with. One friend has the Bakehouse Platter which he said was nice but just felt like a load of random things had been loaded onto a plate. I ordered the Chilli Platter. The amount of chilli on it was very small and there was absolutely no heat or spice. Also, although I don't believe it was advertised as a vegetarian chilli, there seemed to be no meat in it. That was a shame because the staff were incredibly friendly and it's a lovely venue, Oh, but I do challenge the sense of allowing someone to let their baby stand on a surface used for serving food."

"I absolutely loved the food at this restaurant! The staff was fantastic and provided great service in a lovely atmosphere. I ordered the Black sesame ramen and the Katsu curry to go, and thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. The prices were reasonable, with the average cost per person ranging from £10 to £20. I would rate the food 4 out of 5, the service 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere 5 out of 5. Overall, a fantastic dining experience."

"My friends and I had made a reservation at this restaurant a week before Christmas and each of us had to pay a £20 deposit and pre-order our food (this was not advertised at the time of booking but it was understandable due to the time of year). I asked about the deposit and was told it was in case of no-shows. On the day of our reservation, one friend was very late and another didn't show up. We dined without the latecomer and skipped her starter so she could join us for the main course. However, the mains and dessert for the no-show were still brought to our table. At the end of the night, when we asked for the bill, we realized they hadn't included the deposits we had paid earlier, as if they were hoping we had forgotten. We were then charged for the food of the no-show guests, as well as the starters that we never received. When we questioned this, we were told it was company policy to charge for the food. Despite our explanations about the purpose of the deposit, they were unwilling to budge. The service was terrible, with us having to repeatedly ask for the food and drinks we had ordered but not received. A live band was setting up to play in the area where we were dining but they were asked to move after playing just one song due to a complaint. None of the diners in the area were asked for their opinions, and as a table of musicians, we were disappointed by the lack of consideration shown to the musicians and other diners. I emailed the pub afterwards to request a refund for the undelivered food we had paid for and expressed my disappointment in having to pay for the no-show's food despite the deposit. They refused to refund but offered a voucher for a future visit, which I declined. I have since asked for a refund and have not received a response. The food was okay but overpriced and nothing exceptional. Overall, it was a disappointing experience with poor customer service, and my group and I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant."

"If i told you that the best part of the meal was the prawn crackers that should tell you everything you need to know. Ordered the most basic dishes..prawn crackers, chicken chow mein, chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls. I kid you not but none of the food was seasoned! The rice was plain boiled rice with egg and chicken. The chow mien was plain noodles on one side with overcooked beansprouts and onions on the other which was drowning in a gloopy clear liquid. The chicken balls were overcooked but edible. We had to add our own soy sauce!"
