"Waited over 90 mins for food. Pub busy but not manic. People were leaving having waited for their dinner. Obviously the kitchen staff had lost it as manageress spent a lot of time helping out. Noticed a lot of meals being returned. When ours arrived two of them were nice whilst the other two were not good. Both were roasts and the veg was not cooked. The parsnips could not be cut, they were rock hard. The man on the next table left but did say that previously he had no complaints at all. We will go again because it cannot be that bad all the time judging by the numbers there. Thank you for the discount which was not asked for."

"The service was absolutely shocking. We placed our order with the young man at the bar who was being very impatient with a staff member who seemed new and he was generally unprofessional in his attitude towards her. We waited 45 minutes before my husband went to check where our starter was. A waitress came over and stated to take our order again but we were assured by the guy at the bar that it was being plated up. 10 minutes later the waitress comes out with our mains and when I told her that we still hadn’t had our starters, she rolled her eyes and took the mains back to the kitchen where they were clearly put under hot lamps until we had finished our starters as the egg on my mixed grill had a thick rubbery skin on it. Very disappointing"

"Three of us went here for a nice evening meal. Gammon, and a Haloumi salad both lovely and mine a mixed grill was lovely apart from the steak which was inedible, had a huge sinu running the entire length which was the culprit. My wifes vegetarian and my mother in law will not eat beef due to mad cows disease so I was so looking forward to it, the chicken was nice the sausage and gammon was nice it was just the steak. Apart from this the meal was great staff friendly and attentive. Would highly recomend apart from steak. Would have given 5 stars if the steak was nice."

"Stopped here for lunch as it is just a couple of minutes from the motorway and certainly a million times nicer than the services, 200x cheaper and helping out a local business. Food was delicious and the landlord was very friendly. As it was quiet our dog and the pub dog got to make friends. If you need a stop over consider here rather than a McDonald's. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available Price per person: £1–10"

"Very new to me, found myself revisiting just after days. On both occasions, the service and friendliness of the staff is unbelievable, inspiring would be the best way I could describe. The burgers are amazing and the eggs Benedict was the best I have ever had."

"Everything about this place is awful. The food is tasteless. cold and greasy. The Manager has no customer service skills and is non apologetic for cold and greasy extremely late food. To try and get my order I had to speak to the Manager twice and the driver 3 times to get my food which was horrible as you can imagine being so late. I informed him that I was unable to eat it. His response was I will do nothing. I ordered previously from his chicken again and they delivered lamb that I could not eat. Again I spoke to him and he would do nothing. I would never order from them again their food is greasy and tastless there is a lot better places to order from around the area. The customer service from the Manager is non existent and they need to realise that their food is not good and understand that they will only survive by good food and customer service both of which they have none and having future recommendations."

"I recently dined here with a group of twelve people, and everything was excellent. Our six French guests had nothing but positive comments, similar to our English diners. The food selection was very good, with all the different meals arriving at the table at the same time. The service was exceptional. The staff was friendly, helpful, and very attentive to their customers. After traveling from the Cambridge area, our visit to Hughendon Manor concluded on a high note. - Keith"

"Once a month we have a Mr Cod takeaway when we don't fancy cooking! We've never had a bad meal from here. Right opposite the bus station, it's in a real central spot. I always have the 3 pieces of fried chicken and chips. Hot, juicy, well seasoned pieces of chicken, and the chips are proper chunky and salted. Hubby always has the spicy chicken burger and chips, he says it's the best chicken burger in town. And he knows his burgers! Also their spicy chicken pieces are delish! They supply plastic forks and lemon wipes with your takeaway and in the summer we drive to hughenden park or up to the golden ball to eat it. Parking is an issue but one of you goes in and the other can drive around the block. Traffic wardens round there are ruthless!!"

"Ordered from Taipan as this is my regular Chinese takeaway. Today we were extremely disappointed with the service and quality of food. Firstly we were told it would take 1hr 15mins, having called them after that time to ask how long the food will be I was told it’s on the way. The food arrived 35 minutes later! We started eating the crispy chicken pieces which were completely soggy, cold and tasteless. We then tried the remainder of the order and again it was luke warm. When I rang back to explain the dissatisfaction, the call taker was clueless stating the driver was to blame. I explained that the quality of dishes were not per usual standard and he just went silent. He then spoke with other staff members in the background who then started to shout quite loud. He stated they could nothing about the bas experience we encountered. Not impressed with the service."

"Great to see this pub open again as it is right in the heart of the town. Limited outside menu at the moment with burgers and pies on the menu. Burger was the tastiest I have had in a pub for a long time. Excellent quality. My mate said the pie was good too. We are Cask ale drinkers and Black sheep at £3.50 a pint was good value. Disappointed the Doom Bar was not on tap though. The service was very friendly and the staff were very efficient and no long waits. Only drawback for me was the pub not taking cash. I can understand reasoning at the moment when staff have to serve at tables outside, so hopefully once we return to indoor service cash will be accepted .Will definitely return soon"

"in the frame of a virgin experience we had a night in the crowne plaza marlow, which included a three-course dinner and breakfast. the meal was absolutely delicious with four choices per cursor. the presentation and taste were of a very high standard and a very pleasant surprise for a hotel restaurant. beautiful supplements made it extra special like camramelized nuts and a macron with the tarte tatin for dessert- see photo. I dropped a star because unfortunately the service did not meet the high standard of the meal. we waited a long time to give our order, our starter came before our drinks, the waiter had to be reminded of our water and there was a long waiting period before they took our dessert order. we were also not given any bill at the end of the meal, as it was part of our Virgin package, but at the review from the hotel the next day the congratulation without our approval was added - this is a real annoyance from me and I asked that it be removed. it's a shame that we could not just tap the chefs. the next day the breakfast was excellent. it was self-serving and there was a huge selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, chalk, toast, cold meat, cheese, baked and a complete English breakfast with high-quality products to choose from."

"We reserved a table for 10 of us to have lunch and say farewell to a colleague. We all ordered a myriad of sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes. All food was well received and compliments all round. I personally had the Seafood Salad, which was very tasty, had a solid fish to salad ratio and was good value for money. Friendly staff who kindly provided us table service. Overall a very pleasant and tasty lunch, would recommend."

"I have eaten at Riverlight on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is welcoming and the food is truly outstanding. There is a good selection of dishes, and the desserts in particular are really creative and add a special touch. The addition of home-made bread and an amuse-bouche to the meal just adds to the occasion. There is also a good range of wines and other drinks at a reasonable price. Riverlight is by no means the cheapest restaurant in the area, but the food is good value for money and the whole experience merits the cost. It is also a fantastic venue for a party or celebration, particularly in the summer months when the outside space can also be used. I can't recommend Riverlight highly enough."

"This restaurant review discusses a unique underground restaurant and bar. The food was enjoyable and the young team was enthusiastic. However, the menu descriptions should be more precise. For example, the cauliflower was served with cheese sauce, which was not specified on the menu (it simply stated "served with seasonal vegetables"). One member of our group had a lactose intolerance and could not eat the dish with cheese sauce."

"It is so rare to be able to browse in a small shop without being pressurised to buy. Although I originally went in looking for bamboo socks ,I was delighted to find a couple of long sleeved, viscose tops which I came across by chance and which will be great for layering at under £10 each and made in the UK. I also agree with another reviewer that there is a great selection of jewellery. It's the sort of shop where I could have come away not having bought anything, and not felt awkward. I hadn't realised that the shop also served coffee and cake until I was inside, but intend to return and sample this next time!"

"This pub has long been a welcome watering hole on one of our favourite local walks. For months now we have had to pass by the front door thinking longingly of a refreshing pint so we were thrilled to be able to visit last week for the 1st time since they reopened. The current arrangements are that you walk up to an open window to the right of the front door, where there is a pad to record your contact details, laminated copies of all their menus (food drink) hand santiser. You place your order there make your payment, then walk along to the open window to the left of the front door to collect your purchases. There are then plenty of tables to choose from, either in front of the pub, or in the grassy area around the side of the building. It was all so relaxed friendly but highly efficient. There is also access to a toilet through the back door, clearly signposted. All in all a very pleasant interlude, before striking out for the 2nd half of our walk"

"Afternoon tea for us is a regular occurrence both at home and when travelling. I had not been to Danesfield house for many years and not wishing to travel into London and being completely put off Cliveden by their GBP 7 per head supplement for just using the driveway, Danesfield seemed like a good option. The full afternoon tea was an obvious choice and there is a nice variety of teas to choose, we went with Oolong. When we arrived and met together in the hall there were two young mums with their broods of noisy children, we hoped they would stay there but unfortunately no, they soon followed us into the Orangery. Such a shame to have the ambience of tea on a wet afternoon spoiled by someone else’s children. The sandwiches were a nice selection and the scones absolutely wonderful; light and fluffy, so if we had not been so hungry we could all have probably been happy with just a cream tea and they are happy to bring extra cream when asked. Battenberg cake was super, as was the chocolate choux pastry bun and I enjoyed the macarons, although my husband found them overly sweet. The little fruit tartlets were bland and soggy and could well have gone without and having seen my husband taken a bite and put it aside I didn’t even try the pink angel delight whatever it was. So, a lovely setting for tea, perhaps they should introduce a no children under 14 policy? tea selection is good and scones superb. If I return, I probably would not bother with a full tea and would stick with the cream tea. Service is good helpful and unobtrusive. GBP 30 is expensive for the selection and quality of tea cakes provided, the cream tea in comparison is absolutely excellent value. But I guess the costs reflects the current craze for tea being experienced by the UK."

"On arriving at Grovefield House the grounds are a welcome site and you do feel it is going to be a great experience. The Staff whp served us our welcome drink were pleasant but not very generous with measures and half a glass if that...were poured into short wine glasses. The food was then ready to be delivered to the tables. The first course I had was the Leek and Potato soup which was pleasant but I have had better or the same out of a tin. Others around me had the Pate on Toast which was adequate but the toast that was served was so small it was not enough to use the Pate. The fish starter was so small it was nearly not visible so not recommended for the hearty eater. Then came the Main, I had chosen the vegetarian which was inadequately small, bland and not appetising at all. It arrived with pea sized potatoes around the outside and a sprig of rocket. The Chicken main was a little bigger as was the Salmon main but nobody was impressed and were all very disappointed. After the disaster of the first courses we all waited for the Sweet. Unfortunately the majority had gone for the Brule it arrived in a very small ramekin with a sweet basket and Yes rasberries. The Brule was a total disaster, the topping was totally made up of Salt it was a very big disappointment and in fact unpalatable. Complaints were coming from all directions they did replace it with a sorbet but was not even enough to cover the bowl. The tart however was commented on to be pleasant. All in all I would not recommend as this was Overpriced, Unpleasant and a real disappointment. I would not recommend and to be honest you would find a much cheaper pleasant place to eat and party just down the road so Sorry Grovefield House you have lost my vote."

"Placed a 'timed order ' on Soya Oriental website ... it arrived 90 minutes early!! We had to go out briefly before dinner, hence why we ordered our takeaway for a later time in the evening! If we hadn 't been in when it arrived, the first...time, it would have just been left on the doorstep for 90 minutes!! We sent it away with the delivery driver and asked for them to bring back a fresh order at the booked time. When it did arrive, at the allocated time, it was very bland, with a watery szechuan sauce. Disappointing experience alround :"
