The wonderful owner, Cliff, opened the pub just for us on a rainy morning. We were a bit lost and in need of coffee, a break, and some guidance. His motto displayed at the bar is absolutely true: "Enter as Strangers. Leave as Friends."

As a picky vegan, it's hard to find local restaurants where I can dine, but Butglais offers options for everyone. I've known about this place for years, but I only recently visited. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was wonderful! We will definitely be coming back!

As a parent of an 18-month-old, I always get a bit nervous when dining out, especially since he usually wants to run around after about 30 minutes. However, the staff and owners were wonderful with him! They even took him behind the bar to check out the pumps, which he absolutely loved, and we managed to capture some great photos. Another bonus was that they had plastic utensils available (I had forgotten mine), which was really helpful! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This is a great place, and I highly recommend it!

What a great Saturday afternoon Birthday meal. The Gammon with egg, pineapple and onion rings, plus a peppercorn sauce was very, very good and not forgetting Eddies chips which are the best in the Valleys was a real feast. With Gaynor 's Lemon cheesecake desert to finish, I was full til the following day. Well done team, we 're local and will be back en masse. Daiawn Aberglais. Set not far from Morlais castle and the quarry (good to have a walk there near the golf course and then come to the Aberglais after) it's in a good location with great views all around. Good home cooked style food and a cosy but small beer garden. The place does get busy during peak times with the carpark getting full, so better to pop in mid week. Various bottled ciders, cold pull beers and ales on tap. They always seem to have at least one felinfoel ale on tap (last time it was double dragon). Bar area is a bit too modern for my tastes (it would have been nice to have it a bit more traditional/rustic).
