"From the moment we arrived until the moment we left the owners of this hotel couldn’t have been nicer and always on hand if you needed anything. We had a lovely spacious room overlooking a field with horses and a very quiet road. Slept well. Breakfast both days were delicious, various cereals, fruit juices, yogurts and fresh fruit to choose from as well as a choice of items for a cooked breakfast. Dairy free alternatives available on request. Lost a point for dinner, I had fish and chips, being beside the sea I thought the fish would have been fresh but it was a frozen brand and not the best. The hotel is around 30 minutes walk from Kirkcudbright, a nicer walk along the river. Kirkcudbright itself is beautiful, lovely walks, buildings etc, places to eat, coffee shops and pubs. If you have a car you could visit the many beaches in the area, we visited a few and they were beautiful and peaceful. If I am down in that area again I would definitely stay in the Arden House Hotel, their hospitality would be hard to beat. 100% recommend."

Enjoyed our stay once again in this warm, welcoming hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and the little waitress serving dinner was very efficient and pleasant. Very relaxing and great value for money. We would, and already have, recommended this hotel.

We had a smashing long weekend cycling, with Arden House as our base. Very clean throughout and rooms are very cosy. Staff and owners were really friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast, as was dinner on evening. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a lovely weekend. Visualizza piatti

Fantastic hotel , from the smiles of the owners to the service, to the fantastic rooms, first class there was no faulting the whole experience. I will certainly be back to such a warm and inviting hotel perfectly positioned above the river Dee with easy access to all local amenity's.

Stayed for two nights, had never been to the area before. Contacted the hotel as we would be arriving after the restaurant had closed, but they stayed open for us. Had a full selection and specials. Enjoyed it so much that we made a reservation for the following night. Breakfast was off a menu, just pick what you want, full waitress service.

Went here on the 13th March 2024,and what a beautiful place where to start, booking in very easy no problems whatsoever went up to room no 17 first floor I think one of the cleanest rooms I’ve ever been in,a big room one king bed and a single bed with en suite that you could take your dinner off it was that clean. The staff were excellent especially Jackie who we had a good wee chat with at dinner which again was first class as was breakfast.Would recommend this hotel To any one.Ounce again thanks for a great time Visualizza piatti

I booked this hotel because of the car park. When I entered the hotel I was greeted by the owner, Billy who was so helpful. My room was lovely and after showering i went down to dinner. on the menu i had Haggis to start and as i've never had it before and also after listening to the waitress i decided to try it. Wow it was awsome and for my mains i had the surf and turf which also was amazing the steak was cooked, just the way i like it, medium rare. I didn't have room for a pudding. so i finished my drink and went out for a walk. i slept really well and in the morning had a lovely breakfast. I felt very at home and comfortable at the Arden House Hotel and if I'm travelling through that part...

We stayed here, as a quick sleep over as we were attending a wedding a few miles up the road. We arrived early hoping to change, but alas as they had been fully booked the night previously, this option was not available to us. Keys were collected for later and once travelled. Later, we returned and found the room very comfortable, with adequate facilities required for a one night stay. I ventured to the bar and found the staff very friendly and highly efficient. I the morning, breakfast was a real feast, with us both electing the full cooked option which was first class. The menu was extensive and although we did not have an evening meal, there was considerable choice. On the practical side,...

"Visiting Port Patrick again today we thought we would try a new place to eat. We normally eat at the same place here but today with chose the Crown Hotel. When you walk into the crown you see how old it is and I must admit it looks quant but a little dated. After finding a seat and deciding what to eat I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The service from the member of staff were pleasant and welcoming. We ordered 2 cokes and 2 stake and ale in a pudding one with chips and one with baby potatoes. We were charged a few pence short of £39 and given 2 cans of coke and asked would we like a glass with them? £4.80 for 2 cans of coke) Going back to the table I sat down and within less than 5 minutes our food was there on our table. I always worry when the food is so quick as I never feel it properly prepared fresh for you and when you are paying £17 a meal you at least want something fresh-ish. WHAT REALLY ANNOYED ME was while we were eating our food people were bringing dogs into the bar past our table to talk to a guy sat next to us. Chatting away these dogs were just sat by our feet as we ate. No one seemed to care about these dogs brushing up against people eating a meal. The food The baby potatoes were ok, the pudding was a frozen one you would get from a supermarket, the veg was hard, the meat was dry and bland and the gravy tasteless. I would say this food was a preprepared meal and just placed into a microwave. I don’t like to be so blunt in my reviews as this is always someone’s business and livelihood was are talking about, but this really was that bad. The service during the meal was none existent. When the waitress came to take our plates she did not seem surprised when I complained about our food, saying only I’ll pass it on. No apologies or anything. Even with me saying the food was especially the veg was disgusting. It was like water off a ducks back. Will I eat here again NO sadly the service and the food was very poor."

"For some reason I can not reply to your answer. Sadly you are absolutely wrong in everything you have stated, I find your tactic of attacking people who give less than 5 star reviews. I am not going to try to defend myself, as I stand by everything I said. I have made an appointment to see a solicitor about your untruthful comments. I would really of liked to put a good review up, however, I would not recommend this hovel to my worst enemy. Firstly the room was so small, and tatty, extremely dated with an alarm clock, which surely has been taken from a chalet from Pontins in the 1970s, that even the amazing view could not compensate. There was dog meat/food on the carpet, and I assume ash. When I went to look for someone to let them know, there was no one about. The bathroom was not fit for purpose, one as it was a converted cupboard, and the notice in the room explaining that the steam from the shower which was cracked set off the sensitive smoke alarm, so you could not even have a shower. Then when we went for breakfast, after waiting for 40 minutes for a breakfast which was a 1 sausage, a piece of streaky bacon, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms, haggis, b pudding and beans. When I went to complain about this on the way out, I had the pleasure of speaking to someone called Donna, who was at best obnoxious, and as unhelpful as it was someone else 's fault, I quote I don 't clean the rooms, I don 't cook the breakfast . I would rather sleep in a tent than give money to this place, please look elsewhere, unless you want to feel as though you are being ripped off. In response to your reply I thankyou for it. I do not deny that I was irate, and if she cried, I feel terrible about that but I have also left things out, like the denial of the previous evenings attempt with the same lady about the state of the room, however I stand by everything I said, As you are true to form, as it never ever seems to be your fault, if you look at the previous low reviews, it is always someone else 's fault. Oh by the way breakfast took 40 minutes, and as you were not there, maybe you can check CCTV and see that the uncooked food was left, as was the haggis, however the toast provided was superb. I applaud your defense of your staff, I truly do. Hopefully you can maybe if you get another less than favourable review, see that it is the same points over and over again, and try to address them points, just a thought. Thanks again for your reply below, and I stand by everything I said, and truly can 't be bothered dissecting your reply, one slight point, I have witnesses about the night before, so I take with a pinch of salt, your comments"

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
