where to go on a rainy day in the late afternoon something to eat when most restaurants in frankfurt still have closed – block house. the menu has changed for decades, but the steaks are pretty good (not the best, but certainly not the worst) and the service is always friendly and efficient.

Wir bekamen einen Platz, ohne Vorbestellung, allerdings in der Nähe zu Küche. Hier war es sehr unruhig und laut. Das Essen war prima. Wir hatten Mrs. Rumpsteak echt klasse. Die Bedienungen haben sich sehr um die Gäste bemüht. Auch der Nachbartisch mit Kids hat erstmal für die Kleinen Stifte u Malblätter bekommen.

we have eaten here at lunch after we visited the palm garden. the place is very beautiful. it is also possible to have the menu in Italian, which is not exactly natural in Germany. we ordered two bark steaks with a large ofenkartoffel (with sour cream sauce) as well as an Italian salat and a beautiful piece of apfelstrudel to dessert. it was all very good, we left the place full and happy. we spent almost 50 euro in two. This place is a mess, the waiters are great amounts themselves but not with customers, the manager is disconnected and please give chefs something to cook and not just assemble fried food on to a plate..we bypassed starters despite that, our kids food came circa...25 minutes into dining and ours never came, two simple mains off the lunch menu never came, no information as to why it was taking so long, by this time our kids finished eating this below average food, we had enough, we left having not eaten. Of course we paid for what the kids ate but our local freibad canteen does better food. After 40 minutes of wait, a uninterested dry sorry was all we got. It was lunchtime but the restaurant...

I visited this place on the basis of a recommendation from my former employees of my colleague to be good for steak, and true to make it was: I ordered a steak with baked potato and side salad (which arrived first, so I was confused when they thought... I wanted it for a beginner), but the steak itself was pretty good. I could have benefited with some more spices (mustard, etc.), but overall the steak and beer was a good meal and simply sufficient.
