"Our second lunch in carcassonne. Started well when they brought us complementary olives and a small glass of kit. Goat Cheese and aubergine millefeuille was well presented and tasty as a starter (chosen by my wife), but my Onion soup was watery and full of soggy cubes of bread, although with a good cheese topping. We both had Entrecôte steaks for our main course which were tough gristly, and lacking in taste - really poor. Tables were placed too close together, and we were disturbed by cigarette smoke from a neighbouring table, even though we were eating in their charmless garden. There must be better options in Carcassonne!"

We ate here a couple of evenings and had good local dishes. Warm Goats Cheese salad, Cassoulet and Magret de Canard. Well cooked and very attentive staff. The wine list was good and at good prices

Sat in the garden for a beer. Drinks menu was very restrictive with beer being the only alcohol on offer. Later I saw someone drinking wine which wasn't available on the menu. Service was ok from a nice young waitress. 2 cans of Heineken were €7 which wasn't too bad.

The food was fine, the service helpful and the décor/ambiance very pleasant. Great children's menu. One person did not like her dish, but she asked to have it without the sauce. We tried the cassoulet, dish of the region, and it was fine -- but a lot of food. We could have shared it!

We came on a very busy day where the terrace was full, but inside there was enough space. If the kitchen capacity is so limited that it took us more, than 2 hrs to have a lunch, they should rather limit the guests entering.Anyhow, food was ok, and the final free coffee as "sorry" was accepted :)

We dined here on vacation with a tour group. I was pretty psyched to try the local specialty Cassoulet. I had researched the dish and looked at the photos of the dish. While the dish was good here, I expected better. Maybe it was because it was a group meal. A decent dinner here, but nothing special.

Attentive staff who somehow thought I was French (my ropey accent must have improved). I had an nicely seasoned and cooked entrecôte with a large green salad and 25 cl of house red for about €24.Seems popular with English speaking clientele, perhaps because the regional cassoulet isn't on all the set menus.

Worst food in carcassonne value for money is horrible We were 4 for dinner and each ordered different dishes but none of us was able to eat his dishI personally couldn't finish one bite of the cassoulet and my friend threw up after eating his dishJust go eat anywhere else This is by far the worst restaurant i have ever been If i was a food inspector I would order the closing of this ripoff of a restaurant

We were staying at the hotel so booked a meal in the restaurant the first night. It seemed to lack atmosphere. So many excellent restaurants inside the city walls but we were disappointed in this one. Also we had a fairly noisy family behind us with a woman smoking. We are of course not usd to smokers as few people smoke in Australia now and never where food is being served. We loathe it when you are in a restaurant and even on a terrace.

My husband and I had dinner last night at this Brasserie which is owned by the hotel we are staying in. It's got a rather lovely courtyard with pretty trees and provides a very nice setting for a meal. The service was unfortunately very slow...I wish Restaurant staff would realise that if they provided customers with a drink quickly, they would have more leeway on the order taking! When we did order, after a bit of prompting, the food came quickly. It was tasty and very reasonably priced so no complaints there. If they could organise their service delivery they would certainly attract better reviews.

"Visited today for lunch after reading a recent review about the high quality of food on offer. We were not disappointed! It was superb. There were 3 choices on each of the courses with one vegan option on each course. I had chicken fricassie which was the most delicious chicken dish I've had for a very long time. The meat was so tender, it fell away from the bone; the mushroom sauce was deliciously tasty - it wasn't over seasoned. My OH had tofu wok which he really enjoyed. Both were served with rice and runner beans. The starter was a dish of 2 types of melon one of which was watermelon, with feta. We didn't think it sounded great but we were very wrong. It was served with a dash of vinaigrette made with a light oil, a tiny bit of honey and toasted flaked almonds and was surprisingly interesting. All the flavours worked so well together. For dessert OH had the cheese plate with 3 different types of cheese which he loved but it couldn't have been better than my raspberry Eaton mess which was particularly good as it wasn't overly sweet. All for €18 each AND it was all organic! We sat outside in the courtyard which was a very pleasant area. The ambiance throughout was of calm. No background music, no clattering noises or shouting from the kitchen area. It was a little oasis of refined lunchtime dining, The service was impeccable. The young man who served us was very impressive and able to tell us what ingredients were used in the vinaigrette. It goes without saying that the high standard of food and service were also reflected in the high levels of cleanliness throughout. We only wish we'd discovered this place sooner and will be back again as soon as I can trust the OH's arm"
