"We called by this bakery on our way to a holiday cottage in the Yorkshire Dales and were so pleased with the bread and cakes that we called on our way back. The lady who served us was very polite and friendly but this time we were served by a gentleman who did not make us feel at all welcome and was really quite rude. I wanted to pay in cash but he asked for card which was fine but made some clever comment about a twenty pound note on a Saturday morning that was quite upsetting and so unnecessary. So much for customer service."

Tasteless sausage rolls and soggy tarts. The custard tart was actually dripping when I took it out of its wrapper. Very poor

Good Covid security and a friendly welcome. They have a large selection of traditional cakes and pastries. Prices are really quite expensive.

This is the worst pizza I have ever had. It was dry, stuck to the foil, and had hardly any meat or gravy. It was a waste of money and not even cheap.

The food was good, but I nearly forgot to pay for my can of coke. I think this upset the staff because when I left, my Viennese whirl was all squashed. Visualizza piatti

Stop off for Sausage Barm earlier today. Wow, amazing. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. I strongly recommend you give it a try when next passing through.

Called in here to get some cakes to take with us on our 2 hour journey home after a week away in the lake district. The chocolate brownie and caramel shortcake were immense and the best we have had all week and we have had some good ones.

The pasties and pies were delicious and served warm. However, I was disappointed when I saw the guy making my sandwich without wearing gloves after handling money. It was off-putting. Additionally, the same male server was very rude with an aggressive tone and was heard muttering to his colleagues. It was a shame because the female servers seemed friendly. Visualizza piatti

Called in on 27th for a quick bite a hot drink, consisting of a hot steak bake, a latte a hot chocolate, really fancied extras so ordered cream marshmallows then realised there was a £1 charge for it, most cafes don’t charge that much, it was nice, very rich but I’d think twice about purchasing again, our last visit was Nov 19 when I was charged an extra 50p for a seeded bun, won’t be rushing back!

Food generally good here, but service can often be abrupt. But today …well! Our hot pies were hot on the lid and stone cold inside. I returned and asked politely if they could be microwaved, only to be given a lecture on why they are always cold at the bottom due to them being in tin foil. I persevered , they were re heated and came out just the right temperature to be described as a hot pie. But… whilst I was in the shop, one of the assistants pulled her mask down, sneezed

"We had a disappointing experience during our stay. The bedroom was quite cold, and despite asking for the heating to be turned on, we had to sit in our coats. The bathroom was freezing each morning, and the dining room didn't offer much relief either. The heating was activated for just one hour, which meant the radiator was cold again when we returned to our room. Their cost-cutting measures significantly impacted our enjoyment. We raised our concerns multiple times, but there was no one available when we settled the bill. At £100 per night for bed and breakfast (totaling over £200 including dinner), it was frustrating to be so uncomfortable. Another guest mentioned they had complained about the heating during their previous visit, only to be told there was an ongoing issue. It seems they simply won’t turn on the heating. We won’t be returning, especially since it’s quite a drive to get into town. Regarding the room, we were assigned an attic room (Room 8). It had many steep stairs and low headroom in places. While the bathroom was nice, it was also freezing. The towel rail was pointless since it was stone cold, and my husband had to skip his morning shower due to the chill. We ended up moving to Room 7, which was smaller but slightly warmer despite having a cold bathroom. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly, and the lights were all or nothing. The next morning, we moved our belongings back to Room 8 since they finally decided to turn on the electric wall heater—which they could have done from the outset. It only took the chill off for a little while. On our last night, we experienced a brief boost of heat, but it only lasted an hour. When we returned after dinner, the room was already cool again. As for nearby activities, there’s a park across a busy road, but everything else requires driving to reach shops and restaurants. Safety-wise, the hotel faces a main road, and there are very few parking spaces available (around four); otherwise, you need to park on the main road. Walking to town is possible, but it takes about 15 to 20 minutes downhill. In terms of food and drinks, the breakfast was decent. When asked if we wanted toast, we received just one slice on the same plate as the cooked breakfast. After asking for more, we had to wait a while before we were given another slice. Dinner was acceptable but nothing to write home about; it felt overpriced compared to the excellent authentic Indian restaurant we found in town, which served great food at better prices and opened at 5 PM. Overall, I'd recommend bringing warm clothes for both the bedroom and dining area; we even saw another guest sitting in her coat the entire time."
