Good selection on the menu. Excellent service. Nice atmosphere and interaction with other customers.

Stopped for tea and had a nice meal served by a real gentleman. Needed a lot more spice but nice flavours

Warm atmosphere, kind personnel, excellent food, nicely priced. Beware : quantities are not enormous, but quite generous. We had a starter before our vindaloo, had too much but couldn't let enything be taken back to the kitchen. Hade to take a walk fot digestion, which was nice after all.

What great place.This is a great place to get a curry if you are English. They do a version of Anglo Indian cuisine with authentic Kashmir dishes mixed in for good measure.The owner is brilliant and very funny and will make the dish to suit the Birmingham pallet.I had a prawn balti which was amazingly tasty. Ich habe noch nie so exquisit gewürztes und so hervorragend zubereitetes Lammfleisch gegessen! Dass das Fleisch im echten Tandoori-Ofen über Holzkohle zubereitet wurde, schmeckt man, eine ganz feine Rauchnote rundet alles ab. Großartig ist auch die Minz-Koriander-Chilisoße, die wir vom sehr freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Chef gereicht bekamen. Die Bedienung war auch sehr freundlich. Es war wieder ein kulinarisches Erlebnis der Sonderklasse! Wer einmal wirklich indische Küche in Berlin genießen will, ist hier richtig!

I think we we have eaten our way through the entire Calcutta menu. We started eating here in 2006 or 2007, when we were living in the neighbourhood and Calcutta was our local Indian. We were quickly hooked on the consistently excellent food and the warm welcome we received from the owner. Over the years, we developed a relationship and began to look forward to evenings spent with him in good food and conversation. The food at Calcutta is simple and classic, and it never disappoints. It isn't a five-star fine dining experience, but a casual environment focused on good food and company. The menu won't surprise you but the quality of preparation and cooking just might. Consistently excellent.

I'd found this place on line as it was near to our hotel, and I made a booking for 2. We arrived on time and as it was a warm evening we opted to sit outside. Menus were presented and I asked for 2 large beers. My companion had forgotten his glasses so he shared mine. Makes ordering a little tricky but we got there. The poppadoms are nothing to shout about but the pickle tray was good. Starters were chicken tikka and mixed pakoras which we shared. We still had the pickle tray so finished that off by adding it to the starters. Great food, the chicken was succulent and the pakoras were a joy.
