"The service was great! The lady that waited on us, was on her A game. The food left a lot to be desired. The Mushroom Bolanase with Oyster Mushrooms, plain and boring. The Taglatel pasta was clumpy, and sauce didn't penetrate the center of the clump. You couldn't taste the mushrooms in the sauce. It was a dish that got your hopes up, and left you hanging.The last time I was there I had the fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and Asparagus. The chicken was flat tasting, and had very little seasoning in the crust. It was extremely crunchy, well cooked, and moist in the center. You could get better fried chicken at Bojangles, and for a lot less money. The potatoes were real potatoes, but at least a day old, and cold in the middle. The asparagus was cooked to perfection, but untrimmed. We would hate to put the staff out, by asking the to prep the asparagus. I am a chef and would die before, I would let these dishes out of my kitchen. When the plate goes out, you should have pride in your work and put your best efforts forward. The margins in this restaurant are fat, and the quality should reflect that. Don't break your neck to get there. This is a good place for a great restaurant, to bad hasn't happened."

The food was great lots of choices and very well prepared with decent prices! It is rare to find a place in the side streets with clean bathrooms and this place had spectacular bathrooms! Very happy to see how clean they keep them!

We visited this restaurant twice as the food was very good and the staff were very friendly and took the time to translate the menu for us. The pizza was very good and the vegetable pasta was excellent. We had our best meals here while on holiday.

It's one of those restaurants you find on a side street and won't forget. The food is very simple and prepared well. Nothing you'd really remember, but with the friendly service and lovely outdoor atmosphere, you will certainly remember the experience.

Wandering the narrow streets of old Nice, we came across the small promising menu of Carpe Diem. We left very satisfied customers. I had the côte de veau poêlé au romarin, which was drenched in rosemary butter with potatoes and beans. Simple yet well salted and delicious. My husband had the ravioli à la truffe, and it was decadent. I'm still dreaming of the meal a few days later. Thanks chef!

Most attractive looking restaurant in area, cushions on chairs and large fresh sunflowers in base on table. Excellent service, friendly but professional. Salads for starters were great(nearly a meal on their own), that's why we returned for just salads before heading airport. Loved the fresh, generously proportioned food and the service, both afternoon and evening. Loved the great value for money too!

What a lovely find in the back streets of the old town .The new owners are Italian and proud of there food .Beer was cold and rose wine the best iv had in Nice and not expensive per glass .Lovely outdoor tables set with fresh herbs or lovely fresh flowers .As with all freshly made food it was worth the wait as we sat and watched the crowds go by .I had the salad pulpe( octopus) served on a bed of potatoes and fresh salad drizzled with olive oil .Friendly staff and the chef came out to chat with us about the menu .Worth the visit .

Carpe Diem is a hidden treasure buried in the old town of Vieux Nice. Go find it, you will not be disappointed. Great service. Menu in English. The food was just beautiful! We ordered the prawns with ginger sauce; borage ravioli with lemon butter sauce; veal with rosemary sauce and veal medallion with mushroom sauce - all were delicious! Our children (14 and 12) loved the food. We also ordered dessert ( although only two to share because the servings of the main meals were generous). In two weeks this has been our best meal in France !

I dined at this restaurant years ago and was really pleased with it. Hence, the return recently. However, I was greatly disappointed with the food. I had the 3 course menu. the first course of a gogonzola and chard tart, way too salty. Second course of filet mignon, again too salty. Third course, the dessert, a lemon ricotta tard, was a real disaster. The base of the tard was completely soggy. Then I tasted my husband's strawberry soup with icecream. The soup was watered down, had not taste of fresh strawberry at all.May be I just didn't choose the right food or may be the chef was away???The only positive thing is the restaurant still has ambience and the staff did their job but without war...

I do a lot of research before I go away on holiday. Looking into the best restaurants etc. Some of the ones recommended proven to have nice food with terrible service or expensive.One night wandering we came across Carpe Diem.We were given a warm welcome and explained about the set menu/ dishes offered.Me and my mother both chosen off the set menu. 20 Euro for 3 courses. It really was such great value and the food was excellent.
