"It’s great that places like this are producing first rate food despite the difficult situation just now . The bases were perfect the choice of toppings interesting. My leek/onion/welsh cheese was excellent my husband raved about his fishy one . Good size too..., there’s enough left for our picnic tomorrow ."

"And lucky old us wow! This was a great surprise, we had no idea we were coming into something so unusual and so good.The garden space is very big and on the lawn, amongst the flowers, herbs and vegetable beds sit tables and chairs, mainly made of roughly hewn wood, plus tenty sheddy structures with heaters, teepee looking things and probably other structures I didn't take in.We were there when it was dark and there were strings of lights throughout the garden and it was all stunning and rather difficult to take in!The service was occasionally scatty but always well meaning and pleasant and mostly very professional and rightly proud of what they do, the place and the food they serve.The food! We were so thrilled with the food after some not very good experiences locally and, as others have said, we wished we'd found it earlier and been able to book another night.I had the pork belly which must have been cooking for hours, apart from the rind (not exactly crackling but still crispy and wonderful) I could cut the meat with my fork love to know how to achieve it. No taste had been lost in the cooking process and the fat was there but was kind of crumbly so it was gorgeous. And it came with great slices of home pickled carrot and fennel which was just delicious with a hint of sweetness and a hint of spice. And a puree which I believe was cauliflower. And don't forget the delicious little black pudding rissole that comes with it.As you can see, I could go on and on! My partner loved his succulent lamb, which was served with the same vegetables. Oh, and we had side dishes of seasonal greens and roasted beetroot and goats cheese these were also yummy and well flavoured, side dish didn't mean unimportant.Sadly, we didn't have dessert, what can I say, bet they're ace.This is far too long, do visit if you can it's a real treat with great cooking and lovely people."

"Staying about 2 miles away so we went into the Village to find a Dog friendly pub for food and drink. Walking in to see several dogs lying quietly about was a encouraging start. Busy but a couple of tables free. Had a Pint of Doom Bar and a lager shandy for the wife which was priced as expected and ordered food Wife had the Lasagne off the specials board which she loved and I the Gammon steak which was also delicious. 4 pints and the meals came to around £39 and thoroughly recommend a visit. "Had an average panini bacon and Brie today. Quite easily could have made better at home. No effort in presentation and the accompanying coleslaw was tasteless and lots of water in the bottom of the small dish it was served in. Crisps we’re nice tho : Asked if there was changing facilities to change my 5 month old baby and was told there was a mat in the toilet and that I could change him on the floor in the toilet or on the toilet seat itself. Safety and hygiene was not considered by the staff member I spoke to. (Not 100% sure but seemed to be more in charge so possibly owner or manager, not very friendly person . Wasn’t welcomed or greeted when we entered or when we went up to order. Simple hello, how are you? Too much to ask. On a positive the lady who bought our food out to us was lovely and made time to speak to us all. Shame as the place itself was nice.l and was looking forward to a nice lunch and a matter with a friend. Have given one star as no stars wasn’t allowed."

"This is our second stay at the Trewern Arms. We are a group of friends, one of whom started a Ukelele group 10 years ago. Approximately 20 stayed here, whilst others stayed nearby(not enough rooms)! I know I speak on their behalf when I say to anyone, “STAY HERE”, you will not be disappointed, the food is cooked and presented impeccably. It was delicious both at breakfast and at dinner. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We were joined by Jeremy a local and other local musicians, and spent two great evening’s together. As long as we are playing and singing, we will come back to the Trewern Arms and I would thoroughly recommend it …..Elaine"
