My wife is vegetarian and I am vegan. We live within 10 minutes walk of Chapel St and the high street. Giggling Squid is our go to Thai restaurant now, and for us better food and value than far more established ‘authentic’ Thai restaurants in Guildford. Last night again had an excellent meal and thanks to all the friendly staff.

I visited this restaurant for an anniversary dinner and was greeted with Prosecco. At the end of the meal, I was pleasantly surprised with a dessert. The special unexpected touches were lovely. The customer service was amazing and surpassed anything I have experienced at high-end restaurants before. Thank you to the staff at Guildford for a wonderful dining experience!

Unfortunately although the food was fine the whole experience was very rushed. Booked for 10pm at which point they confirmed we could keep the table for two hours. On arrival at 9.35pm we were told that we had to order everything straightaway including starters. We were then told about an hour later that the restaurant was about to close. Starters are not starters if served at the same time as mains! It should be made clear when booking that meals ordered after 9pm have to be eaten quickly and the table vacated by 11pm. Went early evening before the theatre. Sat us right where everyone comes and goes. Had to get someone’s attention for a drink. Ordered food it turned up luke warm. The beef had fat on the other side of it and turned my stomach. My husband’s sticky chicken was over cooked and he hardly ate it. The most annoying thing were 2 children running around the restaurant whilst their ignorant parents just let them do this. Getting in the way of staff and just being annoying. Possibly one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. I thought I didn’t like Thai food as I always believed it was too spicy. We tried this restaurant as it was recommended, I liked the name and I like to try places that are new to me. I tried the prawn massaman; something I’ve never heard of before. It was so good that I wanted to pay extra for it. I felt like I’d been given Thai grandma’s secret recipe. It wasn’t at all spicy. No heat at all but the tastes were incredible. In fact I haven’t stopped raving about it. When I look at the ingredients I think “well, I don’t like that!” cinnamon and star anise) and the word “ perfumed” in the description also put me off but the flavours were wonderful...

I came here with a friend for lunch on a Sunday. I'd booked a table as I wasn't sure how busy it would be, but as it turned out, it was ok. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. We sat inside in a lovely room at the front with pretty decoration and a nice vibe. We ordered mocktails. Mine was a fizzy take on a pina colada. It was lovely and refreshing. We ordered two starters to share: salt and pepper squid and pork dumplings. They came quickly and were very tasty. For mains, I had king prawn pad thai, and my friend had lamb shank massaman curry.
