Excellent location, ambience, staff en delicious food. Exquisitely prepared food with fresh vegetables and meats. Desserts a delight. Very friendly staff. Brilliant venue for a lovely relaxed evening of fine dining

Dropped in for lunch, but didn't like the menu very much. To our surprise the waiter was very accommodating and we were able to make several changes to get exactly what we wanted. Wholesome, well prepared food, decent service and a nice gift for the...festive season when we left

Being Tuesday in Xanten, there wasn't much to choose from. We stumbled across this restaurant and decided to sit outside. I have no argument with the food, we both had variations of schnitzel which were delicious. The downside was, we had to wait 25-30 minutes for our food to arrive and the couple next to us waiting around the same time for their desert. The restaurant setting and building are lovely. This is a restaurant and bar in a lovely building on the corner of the main square. The staff are the main plus point all very friendly and welcoming. The inside dining area is atmospheric, but the food is very heavy. There's a big...reliance on meat, though that's not unusual in Xanten. My wife's fish was overcooked. Overall, a nice place to visit for a drink, but there is better food available elsewhere

This restaurant is right on the Markt, just where a road goes off to the Siegfried Museum. In better weather, there are outside tables. The server was extremely slow in bringing us menus, then slow in taking the order, and at the end when we...wanted to pay. The food was acceptable but nothing more the hamburger was rather dry, for example. The bathrooms are completely inaccessible, in the basement, a problem for one person in my party

As every year this cosy nicely decorated restaurant offers early autumn Cantarel dishes. We made a table reservation for three persons at hrs, we arrived half an hour early, no problem we were promptly seated at a round table with wooden bench...and pillows to soften the seat. After cycling into Xanten I was really pleased to get a table at Gotisches Haus. Whilst the service was slow it was friendly and definitely worth the wait. The salad I had was amazing Mushroom and Bacon and huge. It did...defeat me but excellent nevertheless. Xanten itself is a great place to visit and take in the lifestyle of northern Germany with Market Squares and Cafes. If you are in this area cycling is definitely the way to travel and I'd highly recommend a visit here if you are hungry

Visiting this beautiful interesting little town Xanten we landed for the lunch in restaurant "Gotisches Haus Xanten" . The exterior as well as the interior breathe the Gothic atmosphere as well as the slightly Austrian approach of the friendly service. Although it is the asparagus season we ordered a "Grand Salad with turkey" 4/5, a caramel ice cream with raspberry coulis and almond cream 4/5 and a Cappuccino 3/5. The furniture jn the front part of the restaurant is a little less comfortable due to the very straight and hard wooden seats and the little space between the bank and the fixed table. Other parts of the restaurant seem to have more comfortable seats.
