Wonderful place. Innovative and chic and simply delicious food. Wine list limited but some nice things from some of the best German producers.

I had the best vegetarian meal I have ever had. The grilled carrot and beans salad were just so perfectly cooked with perfect combinations. It's worth every penny and the staff is super friendly and helpful.

One of my favourite restaurants; delighted that it has been awarded a star by the Guide Michelin Deutschland in I love its unpretentious art, nothing stiff or awkwardly formal but rather you get the feeling that everything has been chosen to please the senses...and delight the mind. The chef's aim is to reinvent traditional food, maintaining the regional character and using seasonal ingredients but combining them in unexpected and sensual new ways. Im Rahmen einer Geschäftsreise haben wir im Gustav aufgrund der Bewertung mit zwei Michelin-Sternen zu Abend gegessen und, um es vorwegzunehmen, wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Ambiente des Restaurants ist fraglos etwas speziell, es wirkt teilweise als würde man im Schaufenster eines Geschäfts sitzen bzw. im Wohnzimmer einer Privatperson. Es ist aber keinesfalls ungemütlich, und wir haben uns dort den ganzen Abend hinweg sehr wohl gefühlt. Das mit 195 EUR durchaus fair gepreiste 7-Gang-Menü zeichnet sich durch abwechslungsreiche und geschmacklich fein austarierte Gerichte aus, sowie durch eine weitgehende Abwesenheit von Fleisch-Gerichten (nur einmal gab es die Ente über Buchenholz gegart). Styled like a modern bistro with a relaxed, informal service team, the average diner does not realize how serious and solitary an experiment they are about to...experience in all its plenitude. Jochim Busch places in front of you plates laid out like a dense forest, every ingredient clinging to every other ingredient. On all sides of his plates you sense the pull of some inert natural form, tugging at the sides, like an abstract expressionist painting with deep contrasts and a complex structure.
