"Updated Jan 2022: Unfortunately, as long-time customers, we were disappointed with our recent visit to the Crooked Fryer. After pre-ordering our meal, we discovered that a crucial item was missing when we got home, despite the staff checking the order before we left. We had to return to the shop to collect the missing item, leaving our remaining order to go cold. The management's response to this issue was not as professional as we had hoped. In a previous similar situation at another establishment, the entire order was redone as a courtesy, leaving a more positive impression. However, this was not the case at the Crooked Fryer. Our meal was not very tasty, and the fish and chips did not live up to our previous experiences. A simple resolution could have left us with a better impression. First Review (2019): The Crooked Fryer offers delicious food, great quality, and excellent service. As of Feb 2021, it continues to be an excellent fish and chip shop with very friendly and fantastic service. In a town with few outstanding fish and chip shops, the Crooked Fryer stands out as one of the best."

All dishes are made to order with fresh ingredients, excellent quality, and the staff are courteous and outstanding. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of the food.

The fish and chips at this restaurant are fantastic, and the staff is very friendly. It would be even better if they stayed open a bit later on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, maybe until 9:30 or 10pm.

Popped in here for the first time after a pint at Chesterfield Arms. Massive fish, fantastic chips and bright green mushy peas. Best chippy tea in years. Great value too. Will definitely use in the future, highly recommended.

We found this place by chance after a day out and have to say we were all very impressed. The fish, chips and battered sausage tasted very good and were cooked very well. The batter on the fish and sausage was good though not the best I ever had. Nevertheless, they tasted beautiful and were cooked perfectly. The person who served us was very friendly and the portion size was quite big. Great value for money. Next time we are passing through Chesterfield we will definitely be paying it a visit again. I would highly recommend.
