"Wow wow wow! I have never been disappointed with this pub, that has consistently served me the most delicious food over the past few years with the loveliest owners! I used to thoroughly enjoy their cheese and bacon burger which is one of the best around in Essex easily, as is their lasagne. Their roast dinner is amazing but since I’ve transitioned to Veggie, their Vegan food has proved to die for! Their vegan cheeseburger is nothing short of unreal and their vegan Jambalaya was incredible- full of flavour. Can’t recommend highly enough. We always save room for desserts as the cheesecakes are the most delicious in this area, out of this world tastes! As is the rest of their extensively varied menu. Even with the pressure of high amounts of catering to deliver for their Mamma Mia movie screening night, the Horse and Groom Team went above and beyond with their service, presenting us with outstanding food quality. All of that is without getting me started on their friendly team and homely countryside setting that’s beautifully furnished with an extensive outdoor area that faces the village’s pretty church aswell as their characteristic interior beams . Can’t wait to see you guys again real soon!"

I had a delightful Sunday roast at this quaint country pub that offered great value for the price. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this place, especially for dog owners.

Lovely venue, nice food; carvery Sunday lunch hit the spot for all the family, young and old. Spacious and well decorated bar restaurant (main restaurant area was closed due to staff holidays). Overall good quality and value for money.

A group of six of us had an amazing meal at this restaurant tonight. The menu is small, but the quality of the food and variety of drinks more than make up for it. We each tried different starters and main courses, and were all too full for dessert. We left very satisfied, spending less than £140 including drinks and leaving a generous tip for the staff. We highly recommend this place, especially because they allow well-behaved dogs. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Today we took a trip to Finchingfield and booked in to the Horse and Groom for lunch... We had a really warm greeting my Karen, who showed us to our table... This beautiful pub is as picturesque inside as it is outside... warm and inviting! We ordered mussels and chicken strips as a starter followed by fish and chips each! Oh my, you will not be disappointed...fresh local ingredients and cooked perfectly! Value for money and really big portions that you will not go hungry...A wonderful find and one we will be revisiting soon... 5

Arrived at Horse and Groom Very warm welcome and very stylish bar and restaurant. We had our gang get together 8 in total. Very good menu with lots of choice we all had starters ,mains,desserts and coffees. I had a steak with all the trimmings Very tender and cooked just how I like it excellent choice. Desserts Sticky Toffee pudding and custard well just the best. Apple crumble in a tea cup fantastic even had to ask how it was made it was that good. Hosts were friendly more than welcoming and fun to be with. Will definitely become our new local. Would definitely recommend to try if you haven't already.

Very nice pub, with good selection of beers. My partner and I had a roaste dinner, disappoint in the meat, it was chewy very thinly sliced. The Yorkshire were small and dry. The 2 roast potatoes, were dry too, not crispy, for some reason there were a few normal potatoes on top as well. The parsnips were thin and dry. All in all look like had been in a microwave. Another couple next to us complain too about the beef being chewy. Then we had desert, really really disappoint. I have never in my life had such a poor, small apple crumble, in a tea cup.!!! Also took 25 mints to arrive. Who serves a pudding in a tea cup... A tea cup with apple canned apple chunks, and a biscuit crumble on top. A sm...
