Each time we drive from friends in Newcastle back to Saffron Walden we stop here for a late lunch. The staff are lovely, the food is great value and the portions are both large and delicious. Highly recommended the ribs.

Amazing burgers. Chips were spot on. The service was quick and the food hot and well presented. The young lad behind the bar was polite and knowledgeable. The manager/chef even came out to see if our food was ok. Will definitely be going again soon

To be honest, we ended up here because our chosen restaurant was booked up. Anyway, pleasantly surprised. OK, It's a group pub with an over extensive menu, but we ordered a couple of burgers, they were well presented and tasty, so quite happy. We loved the staff ,so friendly ,the food was gorgeous we both had the steak pie ,we don’t live local and were on route to an event and rushing ,they dealt with our food order quickly without compromising on the quality -well the worth the journey ,our village pub should eat here and get some tips -hope we get to boat again soon -thanks guys

We stayed over at the inn on the green in our Motorhome in there car park. The staff were friendly, although the kitchen was shut they still made us some chips which we enjoyed with a few drinks. They were so helpful and made us feel like nothing was an issue. Really beautiful little spot and perfect for a night stop over if you are touring in your Motorhome. Thank you so much

Friendly welcome initially called to ask to book for dinner snd request we could park our campervan overnight which was readily agreed. They accept dogs in bar area where we were able to eat. Both chose the beef snd ale pie which was delicious real tasty meat , extra gravy in a jug , good cooked veg with mash or real chips. Delicious and a hearty portion . Absolutely awful service, booked a table on the phone for a table of 5 for 7.30 for my wife’s birthday, we got there at 7.30 only to be greeted by a bewildered woman almost looking shocked we had turned up, and then to be told they didn’t have a table for 5 because they had a walk in group of people who they gave our table to. Absolutely awful service without a care in the world she had messed up our booking and evening. We left without even a sorry or her giving a toss.

My husband booked a particular table in the window as a special lunch for my birthday today, 24th July 2023. This was booked a week ago and he was assured that we would have the table we asked for. We arrived at 1pm only to find that the table was occupied. They did confirm our table booking but asked us to pick somewhere else to sit. Very disappointed as I was really looking forward to it. We left and went elsewhere. We got the impression that the staff could not have cared less!

Visited several times before. The food has usually been good but on this occasion the food was exceptionally good, very generous portions and beautifully cooked and presented. The menu is varied, considerably more choice than your usual pub/restaurant and offers some interesting dishes. Would have given 5 stars but the attention received left a bit to be desired. Not enough patrols by the waiting staff. We were waiting so long I ended up going to the bar to place our order. No table check either. In summary, well worth a visit, a very good restaurant, just a little bit more attention and it would be excellent. Visualizza piatti
