"not knock! in drops and the one option they had was the one above. However, it was homemade, big bon, tomato, spinach and coriander on roasted sourdough. an absolute bargain at £4.20 for eating and service I would have given 4 stars, but the limited option allowed only 3. stopped to lunch and I had the falafel smash sandwich that was roasted and came with leaf and chili jam. my other half had the buildup that she own salat option that they enjoyed very much. it is limited, but what they have is very good. updated by previous review on 2018-02-09"

I loved my lunch here. it was delicious. However, I had to go because the smell of speck made up everything when some people ordered it. the personal was beautiful.

The restaurant is very clean and cheerful, with a wide selection of delicious food and excellent coffee. They also have vegan options available, all in a pleasant atmosphere.

I had a great time at this restaurant. I tried a salad where I could choose my own options. The coffee was delicious and the staff were very helpful and patient as I made my selection. They didn't rush me at all.

Normally excellent but today we were served with stale scones. There really is no excuse for this. Chuck out the old ones, serve fresh ones and cover them up rather than leave them exposed on the counter. Coffee was good.

Oat and soya milks available and by far the best coffee in Dumfries (coffee is from Has Bean roasters). Always at least a couple of vegan options on offer, changing every month or so and all hand made by the cafe and in the past staff have offered to swap veggie ingredients for vegan ones.

great place, beautiful sitting places outdoors, incredible eating. had a limited vegan menu in the last but now many vegan options available, vegan cheese and meat alternatives. had a really good mixed salad with vegan speck and ready cold brew on a sunny summer day updated by the previous review on 2021-06-17 updated by the previous review on 2021-06-17

This is a very relaxed, charming café with young staff and plenty of seating. The best thing is the small but super-tasty menu including smashed avocado on sourdough toast with chilli flakes, mixed seeds and cherry tomatoes at a reasonable price.... or you could just have toast if you're skint! It's a shame that fresh vegan cakes are a rarity here. Oat milk always available and the coffeee is SO good that I never need any added sugar...

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
