"Before getting into my critique, I should point out that we went for dinner only. The cakes at La Maison du Chocolat looked amazing and they seem to have excellent ratings in the other TripAdvisor comments. Unfortunately, our dinner was a huge disappointment. The salad...garned with apple tasted like in an airplane and came with nongrilled and therefore soggy white bread. The French Onion Soup was uncaramalized i.e. not brown! Basically, it consisted of onion pieces in their transparent juice with some gruyère cheese blocks thrown in it. Bread on the side instead of cheeseoverbaken on top of the soup. The waitress excused the chef by saying this was their way of making it. The thin pizza Flammkuchen was alright. The homebaked bread appetizer was nothing special. Together with wines and nonalcoholic drink we paid a little over Euros, which is quite pricey considering we had ordered starters and small dishes. Although we had waited for our food for h in a quiet restaurant I decided to tip which is even generous for Germany because I had not been unhappy with the service I usually try to keep kitchen quality and service apart. While on our way out, the same waitress, carrying a hot plate, yelled at my father who is hard of hearing to step out of her way. It is well possible that this place counts on tourists only. As a resident of Potsdam, I will not return, unfortunately. Too bad, because the cakes might have been nice"

This place has irresistible chocolate cake and many other delicacies and very good coffee. It is well situated in a quiet area with outdoor seating. Great place to take a break

Having ordered, a visit at the ladies room. No paper, letting one of the personell know she retorted: Could you not see the staple on the shelf? Had not seen it, and just tried to be helpful, even expecting an excuse and thanks, but no....Food came, big disappointment: The prawns were drowned in a tomato sauce, with loads of ruccola leaves and boiled tomatoes.
