Leckere Pizza vom Holzfeuer! Gott sei Dank noch einen Tisch bekommen. Vor der Tür warteten Gäste, die nicht reserviert haben. Drinnen war es wieder mal rappelvoll

I went to this restaurant with a group of colleagues last night. Friendly welcome and great food, all very reasonably priced we tried the recommendation already on Trip Advisor for the porchini pizza and it was delicious. Thank you !

This restaurant offers some really delicious pizzas at very reasonable prices. There was also plenty of choice on the menu. However, with our children we felt as if we were interrupting a little. The restaurant is small but cosy. I would return but without the...kids.

What a great find in a small town! Great pizzas- the genuine fare and although the restaurant is very small and gets a little cramped when full, the quality of the pizzas is well worth that. Quite like a home kitchen and you can see the Italian chef prepare and shovel your pizza into the shoulder height stone hearth in the kitchen. You have to be standing up though. This is not a silver service restaurant- just expect a little wait, some rustic charm and the hostess/owner? is friendly once the ice is broken. What I liked about this place was the building and friendly staff, what I didn't like was the Trip Advisor reviews for the place. Friedrichsdorf is a very small place and very few people bother to rate the venues on Trip Advisor; So as only two people who had eaten here had and rated it and excellent at that Trip Advisor claimed it was the best restaurant in Friedrichsdorf; which it most definitely wasn't. The pizza didn't look anything like I would expect a stonebaked fresh pizza to look like and what was more the toppings looked like they had come out of tins. Finally I spent the whole night gasping for water; which to me says aditives and plenty of them.

I've eaten at La Montanara over a half dozen times over the past couple of years. It is an authentic Italian pizzaria in a small German town. The first time I had a Hawaiian pizza and enjoyed it. But it wasn't until I was introduced to Pizza Salmone that I fell in love with it. If you like salmon, this is a fabulous, unique pizza (that I've never found anywhere else--even in the many restaurants I've eaten at in Italy) which combines cheese, salmon, and some type of white cream for an unforgettable taste that keeps me going back for more. Every year for 3 years in February I attended a trade fair in Frankfurt. We were there for a week each time. Thats a long time for that activity. Also, we saw very few UK customers but were obliged to be there by the German...MD. Every year we stayed in Friedrichsdorf, in the same hotel, the Mercure, and pretty much had a block booking at the same italian restaurant, La Montanara which was great. Its a fairly small restaurant, very rustic and traditional. Very friendly too. I have eaten so much pizza and drunk so much grappa in this place that I'm sure some must be incorporated into my DNA!
