"The restaurant is very accessible, situated at the tourist track, but neither the prices nor the food is anywhere near a "tourist trap". We tried a pasta dish and a pizza, both delicious, and was surprised to find such a varied menu on a busy place like this. They had many tables outside on the square, it was very well visited, but service was effective and friendly. Like most places in Köln they have few beers on the menu, but both their Kölsch and their Weissbier was better than merely acceptable. A cosy place which is well worth the visit."

Our hotel recommended us this restaurant and hence we went there with a huge expectation. We ordered a pizza with Aubergine and pesto and pasta with diavola sauce. Both were big disappointment. Diavola was practically tasteless. Service was good, waiters were friendly.

Not a high end Italian and not run by Italians, so they don't have the wooden oven for pizza as you can expect. Take the pasta in this case. It tastes good. With a glass of wine plus the outdoor seating and occasional street music, it can provide a casual easy lunch break.

Don't be put off by the 'touristy' location or negative reviews - we came away from La Tagliatella very impressed. Service was good and staff were very helpful, we sat inside and it's very nicely decorated. Food was plentiful and very, very tasty. We both had superb pasta dishes. We were looking forward for a change of pace from heavy German cuisine and were delighted to discover La Tagliatella while strolling around old town Cologne. We've travelled extensively in Italy and can attest to the restaurant's authentic menu and skill in preparation. The decor inside is delightful with the walls filled with Italian food phrases and other surprises. Bravo!

Once seated it didn't take long before our order was taken and the drinks were served. When ordering the food, the waitress informed us about the size of the portions just to make sure we were not over-ordering. We ordered a pizza and two pastas and we enjoyed every bite (especially pizza was very good). On top of the good food, the waitress took care of our every needs which really made us feel welcome. We would definitely visit this restaurant on our next Cologne trip!
