"We enjoyed an absolutely lovely and very tasteful evening at La Truffe (Aups), friendly and patient service an a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff patiently explained the menu to us in understandable French and when neves in English. Accidentally found this place and decided to book for Sunday night; no regrets! We chose the four course truffle menu, for the main course we had tuna tartare. All courses had very explicit tastes whereby all ingredients where lovely balanced and could be enjoyed. An accompanying local oaked white fitted all courses surprisingly well. Even the coffee and small sweets were given the same attention. Lovely to see the owners prepare the courses in the fairly small and well equipped kitchen behind a beautiful glass separating wall. It adds to the experience. One can really see feel and taste the pleasure and pride the owners take in serving a beautiful menu and providing a good experience that doubled our appreciation for this region. Thank you to the staff of La Truffe."

"We visited this restaurant 2 times during our visit. The food overall was pretty good, but the pizza left a lot to be desired. I was disappointed during the second visit when I ordered a pizza to share with my grandfather. There is no mention of a charge to split a meal on the menu. The pie was delivered, but no plates were offered so that we might each have our own. When I requested one, it was happily delivered. However, we were charged 4 Euro for the plate! Had we not asked for the additional setting, we would have walked out of the restaurant with four more dollars in our pocket! I understand a splitting charge if it is stipulated in the menu, but to be charged money for an extra place setting is over the top. The service was a little slow, but the staff was generally friendly and welcoming."

"We are local and know this restaurant well. Only open during the tourist season. An early indicator? The waitress was surly and could hardly crack a smile. No terrine de campagne or jambon cru for the Assiette Campagnarde and no alternative available. How do you run out of terrine or ham neither of which is fresh produce? One of our party ordered the vacherin for dessert, but didn 't want the crème Chantilly. Not possible; it comes with cream. When it arrived the cream was a squirt of synthetic on the side of the plate. The chef obviously seeks the simplest life imaginable and has given orders that NO variation is possible. Did he work for McDonalds in a previous life?! Other great restaurants in Aups will happily accommodate their clients ' wishes. Go to them."
