L'Ovale - Menu

The food, service etc may have been great, but I never got to experience them as the restaurant refused to honour my booking. They’d decided to make the whole place available to a tour party, but didn’t bother telling me until I arrived. First time that’s happened with a Fork booking.

Great true Provençal food off the tourist route!!! The hostess was delightful. My wife ordered the coq au vin which was not on the menu, but was incredible. I had the Guinea fowl which had a delicate white sauce. We drank the local rose based on her recommendation. We finished with a dessert with a tiramisu base, vanilla ice cream, and a chocolate cake dome. Fantastic experience!!!

We went by this place in search of somewhere to eat. The place was empty but the menu sounded nice.We were greeted by a lovely lady who was very welcoming. The service was great. The food arrived quickly, was very good, and the whole meal felt like something a grandmother could have made. The prices where low, and they served good wine. I would really recomend this place if you are looking for authentic homemade French cuisine

I experienced a new level of disrespect. I made a reservation, showed up at the appointed time, and was told I have to eat on the sidewalk outside. I declined, and made a reservation for the next evening at the same time. The next day I received an email asking if I could arrive 1 1/2 hours later for dinner, saying they were full before that. What is the point of making a reservation, if the restaurant just reserves all its options, and chooses the best one at the last second? There are other restaurants in the city, and I guess I’ll never know if this one was any good. Unbelievable.

En vacances à Nice, nous avons diné en famille dans cette brasserie du centre ville qui propose des spécialités du sud-ouest.Nos avons goûté et apprécié notamment le foie gras maison que nous avons trouvé bon et bien équilibré en goût, la planche de charcuteries de pays généreusement servie et un Malbec, vin du sud-ouest que nous ne connaissions pas A noter aussi le service attentif mais pas chichiteux, on nous a gentiment proposé une chaise bébé pour notre petite fille et l'addition tout à fait raisonnable pour Nice. Je pense que nous y retournerons lors de notre prochain séjour dans la région.

My husband booked a table for this restaurant 6:30 pm and when we arrived just on time they didn't let us in, the lady who must be an owner didn't want to look at our reservation online when we tried to explain that we made booking and we got email confirmation (attached). We were expelled from the entrance like we are the worst enemies and not guests who booked this place prior arriving. She spoke only in french (we don not understand it) and she was saying something like the restaurant is open from 7 pm and I do not want to look your reservation. I would never recommend place with such a rude staff. P.S we were with the baby in stroller and she didn't care at all!! Terrible experience 1st...

Di fatto a 2 passi dall´hotel dove ho soggiornato, mi hanno colpito i menu esposti e la possibilita´ di acquistare pate`...Preso il menu a 22,90, che da´diritto a un antipasto, ad un piatto principale e a un dolce (tutto rispettato!).Preso 2 pate´ freschi, poi un magret di anatra con riduzione di more, ed una steak con salsa al fois gras. Entrambe i piatti con contorno, abbastanza abbondanti! Il tutto cotto a punto!Come dolce un gradevole tiramisu e un dolce al cioccolato caldo..Un quartino di vino a 6€, acqua di fonte gratuita.Servizio senza fronzoli e molto gentile la padrona, locale d´antan ma tipico.Ottima cena dunque, e il giorno dopo, prima di partire, acquistato fois gras (25€ 250gr,...

Nous avons passé une bonne soirée à l'Ovale. L'accueil et le service étaient au rendez-vous, sympa. Nous étions 4 et nous voulions partager une entrée, le foie gras était délicieux. Dommage qu'il ne soit pas possible de partager une assiette de charcuterie, la planche à volonté est trop importante pour une entrée. Les magrets, confit de canard et pièce du boucher très bons, mais la garniture est trop juste : 3 rondelles de pommes de terre et une cuillère de ratatouille, décevant par rapport au reste de l'assiette.
