"Having grown up close to Okehampton I was so happy and excited to find Mooplehog when visiting family recently! It really is a little hidden gem and perfect whether you're vegan or not. Being vegan myself it was so refreshing to be in a cafe and not have to worry about what I can or cannot order, the menu choices were amazing with lots of coffee's, homemade cakes, soups and main meals, everything is cooked fresh too. The cakes are some of the best homemade bakes I've had (even before I went vegan! , so good we even went back the next day for more takeout slices to take on our walk! I highly recommend the carrot cake and blueberry lemon cake! We received a very warm welcome with lots of chats about vegan cooking and baking which was lovely. Looking forward to the next trip to sample the main meals soon! This is a must stop for any Dartmoor visitor."

Small, friendly vegan cafe with delicious food and eclectic surroundings. Good choice of vegan foods for snacks or full meal. Definitely recommended. Dogs also made extremely welcome.

We read about this little cafe on FB and decided to pop in. We were not disappointed friendly, helpful staff and interesting menu. Will definitely visit again and, as they're dog friendly, take our 4 legged friend as well!!!

We stopped off here and had a vegan hot chocolate with our lunch. The vegan hot chocolate was better than most 'normal ' hot chocolates that I 've had, so I was very impressed! The food also was very nice, not entirely filling, but a decent sized lunch.

This restaurant was popular, but, being quite small, has CLOSED at this spot, but HAS MOVED to FORE STREET about 300 yards to the East, near the East Okement River, and its name has changed to The Allotment , as it uses food all supplied locally. I highly recommend it for a smiley welcome good wholesome food. Now sells jams preserves. Visualizza piatti

A small, very friendly welcoming venue. You can sit alone at a table just start chatting to another stranger, thus breaking down barriers between people. Drinks are delicious nothing is too much bother to the Lady there. Nice nibbles to buy at reasonable prices. The Shop Title comes from the Lady's youth when it became a family nickname, Smiles here are FREE !

Visited Mooplehog en route from Cornwall to Somerset hoping to have some breakfast. Unfortunately the electricity had broken so was forced to have cake instead. Oh the hardship........Lovely friendly staff super welcoming to well behaved doggos too. Cafe is entirely vegan which is a welcome thing to see. The majority of their ingredients are sourced locally too. Hope to visit again try some more delicious (hot) food next time. A great new little business that is well worth supporting.

I went twice in one week!I had olive, pepper and chilli cheese pizza then spicy bean and cheese topped jacket potato! Followed by first vanilla butter cream cake then chocolate orange cake. Delicious and a totally vegan! What an utter hidden gem.Despite suffering an electrical fault and consequently having minimal options this week, we were delighted to visit this welcoming cafe! The available options did not disappoint and they will be fully up and running in a week thank goodness as I will be back very soon! The owner is passionate friendly and caring and made our experience even better. See you soon mooplehog! Visualizza piatti

I visited Mooplehog with a friend who is vegan, but I left convinced that it is the best place for food lovers in Okehampton. The prices are very reasonable, with main courses costing £8-£9, and the dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented in colorful bowls with unique patterns. The small interior has seating for 12 people at 3 tables for 4, with interesting and stylish decorations throughout. The service is casual and friendly. The menu is displayed on handwritten flash cards that you can sort through to make your choice, making it easier for the owners to update the menu. Everything is freshly made and tasted delicious. I will definitely be returning to Mooplehog.

We visited mooplehog today and came away with some tasty homemade vegan pizza and some vegan chocolate cake. You would never know that unfortunately they are suffering some electrical problems that should be sorted by the end of next week. The owner is still open but has a limited hot menu. There are lots of hot and cold drinks available including a delicious orange juice, arrowroot and ginger and black pepper drink. Lots of cakes and three different soups today including beetroot and kale yum. The owner is lovely and has only been open since September, her warm character is reflected in the homely decor and she sells vegan cream too! Let's support our small traders and go visit mooplehog to...

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
