"We were here in Montichiari in fall of 2012 staying at Palazzo Novello which is still fabulous. We ate at Rosy teice snd wanted to go back a third time but it was closed so we went to Osteria Dei Matti and it was spectacular....So we were really looking foward to our dinner after having another great lunch at Rosy. What a disappointment! The beef tartare was described as having the traditional uovo, capperi, etc. which usually are separate or the placed on top. This was all smushed together and there was no egg yolk at all. Not very tasty either. The fusilli pasta in cheese sauce was delicious but the menu said it had pepe Sichuan. No pepper of any sort in it. And the vitello tonnato... Oy .... Nothing like it is supposed to be. Thick slices of un chewable veal with a bland sauce underneath. Might be 'creative ' but it isn 't good. And everything is pricey. Go to Rosy instead for better value, flavor, ingredients and generosity. Too bad."

Quella è stata la mia prima cena al ristorante Opposito e l'ho apprezzata molto. Una buona parte del menu è dedicata a vari tipi di prosciutto della regione. Tutto era fresco e semplicemente delizioso.

I really like this place, we go there often. It's very cozy and the people that work there are very kind. The meat is great! We tried several plates and everything is always really good. Definitely a place to eat while visiting Montichiari!

it was a culinary experience to taste the cuisine of this osteria. actually it is a restaurant of French cuisine with delicious foie gra and perfect French winery. the most important meat prices were also of the highest standards. we can recommend this place for your...Perfect dinner.

The lovely ladies at Palazzo Novello recommended this and it didn't disappoint. The food was beautifully cooked served by experienced and caring waiting staff. Great wine selection, beautiful local beef and a top notch risotto. Note to self, the quality of the risotto is...generally in direct proportion to the quality of the restaurant! We'd go back again and again.

Bellissimo ristorante moderno con personale professionale, ma allo stesso tempo cordiale e rilassato. Siamo andati a pranzo perché sembrava bello, ma in realtà le nostre aspettative sono state superate. Ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo. Abbiamo poi deciso di cenare. La cena di sera è stata semplicemente perfetta, abbiamo assaggiato più portate e un po' più di vino, ma abbiamo trascorso una serata fantastica in questo eccellente posto.

The resto was highly recommended by our hotel ' Palazzo '. We liked the relaxed athmosphere and of course the food ! The owner and his staff do a good job. We had a tasty starter, San Danieli with burrata on a toast, and a...very nice dish with chicken and mashed potatoes. A bottle of San Peligrino, 4 glasses of good red wine, 2 capuchino and payed 80 euros ! They have also dry aged beef, I noticed the tasty plates, but that would be a more expensive option, but still reasonable......! Don 't miss this gem !

The only disappointment was my other half, a Montichiari resident hadn't taken me there previously. To be honest, the whole meal was flawless and I do not say that lightly. My other half is a vegetarian and whilst this is not an ideal restaurant for...her the 2013 Barolo was well priced, tasted great and the 600g Steak for me was perfect. Slightly worried I wasn't asked how I would like it cooked it arrived to perfection medium rare!!! Compared to a similar English Steak restaurant this is reasonably priced. It expensive for the area! Definitely would recommend but don't eat for the rest of the day....

Abbiamo condiviso degli antipasti meravigliosi di calamari, acciughe marinare e prosciutto, tutti deliziosi e bellissimamente presentati, soprattutto le acciughe che arrivavano con una magnifica parte di burro nel suo piccolo recipiente. Anche i piatti principali erano eccellenti, con la carne di Fassona e le bistecche di cavallo. Molto ben cotte e presentate, anche se le bistecche non erano accompagnate da contorni dolci o patate, ma ci sono state servite alcuni minuti dopo averle richieste come contorno. Il dessert era spettacolare nel gusto, una deliziosa combinazione di frutta al cioccolato e briciole di biscotto ben abbinata al vino rosso dolce proposto.

This place was highly recommended to us by our favourite hotel in town Pallazzo Novello. A really hidden gem. From the outside when the place is not already open you 'd suspect that they closed down business. Only a small lantern shows that there 's something inside....While we haven 't booked before we 'd to take place in the cellar but have been served very speedy and friendly. Since our Italian is quite too poor we got a detailed description of every dish in English. The variety is good but not plentiful (we like that). Everything we got was 'a punto ' and one lusciousness followed the other. The red wine we selected was fine as well. Absolutely nothing to critisize. Hope to be there agai...
