"Our first visit, a miserable Wednesday night. We loved the warm welcome and although the restaurant was quiet it had a really pleasant ambience, spotlessly clean, decorated with attractive fresh flowers. I really liked the menu, the choices were appetizing and I really could have happily eaten everything on the menu. My starter of beetroot tarte tatin was delicious, the egg perfectly cooked. A fresh foccacia was provided on the table and we soon demolished the lot. Our table chose the cod and beans and the oxtail as our mains. We all raved about the food. If we were being picky we all found this course a little heavy on the salt, not enough to spoil our food but our preference would be for less. We all ordered dessert. The choice of a melting chocolate sponge or pannacotta. Now I'm a fair cook and I regularly make pannacotta but this made my own (well regarded) efforts look poor! It was 10 out of 10 perfection! Fabulous. All very simple and that is not a criticism. Our waiter was careful, attentive and gained confidence throughout the evening. Full credit to him. Well priced, good quality wine also added to our enjoyment. My only minor issue was were was the lemon in my G and T? We will be back, thanks for helping us to have a very pleasant evening."

The food was fantastic and the service (particularly Dominic) was exceptional. The music was perfect as well. Can't wait to visit again

I just came back from lunch today and I can't say enough good things about it. The value was fantastic, the food choices were great, and the front of house staff were lovely and eager to enhance their skills. We will definitely be coming back again.

Extraordinary value for money. We had between 6 of us Spring vegetable soup, cod with poached egg, spinach and crushed potatoes, roast sirloin of beef with vegetables, panno cotta, chocolate and coffee cake. All very good quality with attentive service.

Over the past 2 weeks we have had 2 very good lunches at Pillars. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the efforts of the new trainee staff. My wife and myself thought they were terrific. Complements to Manager Will. The students will learn a lot from him. Very Professional. We very much look forward to returning next September when we are in London.

I have been living in Ealing for many years and recently visited Pillars Restaurant at West London University for the first time. It was an amazing experience and I will definitely be returning. The gazpacho soup with parmesan custard, hake with beans and chorizo, and individual platinum jubilee trifle were incredibly delicious. All of this, along with coffee, came to a total of £14.50 and they do not accept tips. My two friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

I am a 5th year student studying Culinary Arts Management and I am writing this review to express my joy and satisfaction in working at Pillars Restaurant on Friday mornings. Despite going through a delicate health period, being in the kitchen under the leadership of Executive Chef Paulo and his Assistant Chris makes me feel much better. Our food is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and prepared with love, passion, and dedication. I highly recommend anyone looking for a great gastronomic experience to visit our lovely Pillars Restaurant. Our food will surely make your stomach smile! Speedy Gonzalez

The restaurant is tucked behind the University of West London in Ealing. An inviting warm atmosphere with a modern decor. The students are training and supervised. You can tell a bit nervousness in the students but overall they did a great job. The chefs were able to accommodate a gluten and diary free diet and also my colleague who was vegetarian. The bread and butter was better than top end eateries in London. Also, a gluten free bread was delivered. We asked for an additional serving! Water was served infused with mint cucumber. The cauliflower steaks were flavorful and filling, the soups were served hot and at a perfect consistency. The value you get for nourishing cuisine is to phenomen...

If you want well-cooked innovative food with a traditional twist then this is an inexpensive gem hidden in Ealing. It may not have the curb appeal of being in the town but it does have a pleasant ambience and well-decorated and furnished dining room that is light, airy and spacious. You cannot hear the conversation at the next table!!! Food is of a high quality and although the menu is small (is this a bad thing??? the choices are varied and surprising. The fact that all the staff (including chefs are trainees means that service is not Michelin Star but they are delightful and eager to please. The quality of the food is excellent and this is what one eats out for!! I would recommend this as...

"If you live in or visit Hanwell you must take a lazy walk down by the locks and build up an appetite before heading to the W7 Emporium. It’s a little white door by a crappy old man pub sat next to a small florist. Open the door and the atmosphere is straight away comfortable, your away from the street and simply relaxed and at home. The staff are friendly and offer as much banter as you want to be involved with so this is nice and a change from the branded offerings. The furniture is mix and match and the space light and airy so it fits well with Hanwells vibe and there is an outdoor space for the summer. The menu I would describe as funky modern Mediterranean, and there are no sausages which for me can be an issue. But if I’m being 100% honest I couldn’t care less here, the options here are well thought and imaginative. If you want a fry up there are other places in Hanwell to get one but if you want a Mexican there is only one place and that’s here. Ok I’ve given away my ultimate fave thing on the menu it’s what I have and it’s spot on. Poached eggs, nice bread, salad, crispy bacon, avocado and spicy sauce all out together and presented beautifully. So here we go it’s hands down the best place in Hanwell and if you want wine with brunch that’s fine because they serve that too. Have a couple then walk back to the canal and enjoy the afternoon whatever the season it’s a regular weekend jaunt and a compromise between a fry up for me and something healthy for the wife. In the eternal battle of good verses evil the Emporium emerges victorious every time."
