"The pizza was as fine as any pizza express- Have dined here twice now, both times when it's been very quiet- and both times the staff have been very weird about splitting the bill. Both times they've sort of heavily implied in an uncomfortable way they'd prefer it all be paid together- Then when we've told them no, they've handed us the entire bill for one table and asked us to calculate the amounts ourselves. Not feedback the amounts or items we've purchased into the till mind you, but instead have us calculate the actual mathematics of each charge manually on our phones as calculators. On one of these occasions it was a table of five with starters and multiple sets of drinks, felt a bit like being given a pop quiz Missed 50p on the calculation, had to begin again while waiting to leave. Quite awkward. Exceptionally odd service- And the Lady working there claimed their till could not do it- Which is quite baffling because putting aside the entire function of a till is to you know... Add up prices... I've eaten at other Pizza Express locations in Cardiff and Birmingham and the staff there have done it fine? Not to mention the many independent restaraunts in Shrewsbury that seem to manage to split up bills easily. I get it, it's annoying to split a bill. We've all had to do it when working hospitality. But it's a lot more aggravating for all parties involved if the customers are having to do the cashiers job for them without the help of a till. If the cashier is genuinely being honest and pizza express has a new fangled crazy till that can't split a bill I'd highly recommend asking some of the other resteraunts in Shrewsbury for some tips on where to purchase one that can."

Good staff, good food but they need to warm the plates before serving.

Popped in for lunch on Saturday, and got a table without a reservation. Helpful staff regarding food allergies.

Great visit today for lunch. Efficient, friendly staff and very good pizza. Mine was gluten free and the best I've had. Interior is stylish and toilets clean .

I've been going here for years, and the food is always great quality. It's even better that I can get a discount thanks to employee benefits from My Staff Shop! The staff were great today. I thought they were really good anyway, but then, after getting my daughter's order wrong, they fixed it by letting her keep the wrong pizza and make her the correct one too, which was great because she was hungry! We had tickets for the theatre and needed somewhere in Shrewsbury for a quick dinner before going. Pizza Express was within a 5 minutes walk so we thought it would be a good choice. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who gave us seats by the window so we could look out on the street. The large dining room was airy and spotlessly clean. As it was early on a Thursday evening it was fairly quiet so our wine order was quickly taken followed by our order for pizzas. These were very good and seemed to have a lot more topping than usual. Overall an enjoyable experience which suited our needs and allowed us to get to the theatre on time.

Visited on a Saturday lunch time with friends and our children, the restaurant was pretty quiet with lots of free tables. Asked if we could order children’s meals with drinks order so they came out quicker we were told “no, it would confuse the kitchen and they might miss your other order” we thought this was a very strange response and one that none of us had ever heard anywhere before. Ordered food and our starters for children and adults arrived promptly, however it then took over 50 minutes for the mains to come after asking 3 different members of staff within the last 10mins how long would our food be as the children are getting very hungry (the reason we wanted to order children’s food...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. If you are looking for a curry house with a difference this is the place for you. #theshropshirefoodies #foodblog #foodstagram #shrewsbury #shropshire #restaurantreview #foodjournal #foodblogger #instafood"

"Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
