"Holidaying in the area and visited Bishops Castle on no less than 5 times in a week (as it was always on our return trip to the self-catering place . Unlike some it seems, we had the most pleasant experience at the Three Tuns Inn having opted to have our last night out there before going home. We were greeted with very friendly staff and a pint of the great local ale XXX. My wife and I arrived for an early evening meal of mushrooms in Shropshire cheese and garlic bread followed by a roast belly pork and b slow roasted beef with carrot puree, horseradish mash, stem broccoli and green beans in a gravy (perfect for any Northern lad! . The quality of the food was excellent and it was a fitting end to our trip to Shropshire. I should point out that the portions were generous and good value for money. We finished with lemon tart and a kit-kat sundae. My only gripe is that their wine was somewhat expensive. There's plenty of space to relax in, no unwanted noise and very dog and family friendly. It was pleasure to spend our time here in this traditional and unpretentious pub. Enjoy!!"

Walked out as girl said she would come over to take drinks orders. Nothing happened, so partner went to bar. Took so long for him to get served, so we left. Menu is lacking, service non existant.

No Three Tuns beer, no connection to the brewery and generally no idea. When you share a site with a fantastic historical brewery in a small tourist town like Bishops Castle, I would expect better.

Eat here mid week. Booked about two hours before. Lovely friendly pub with great atmosphere. Staff good and food very enjoyable. One had lamb leg steak while the other had Shropshire sausages. Excellent food at good value. Visualizza piatti

Not famished so had a couple of starters rather than main meal. Salt and pepper squid was delicious also hummus and olives very good too. Cask pale ale was really well kept and enjoyable. Staff are very helpful and attentive.

A lovely day and a lovely Lunch, went with Family, we had 3 different main courses, the ramen, quiche and Lasagna, followed by 2 Lemon Tarts and a couple of scoops of ice-cream, a couple of pints and 2 other drinks with a tip and the total was £90. The Staff were attentive without being obtrusive and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant, and the added attraction of the Shropshire Bedlams Martha Rhodens Tuppeny Dish Morris dancing team celebrating Midsummer Rejoicing. All in all a very nice expereince.

We had mid-week soup and pint and were so impressed with the food and the beer that we immediately booked for sunday lunch as well. Neither disappointed. The food was very nice with generous portions at a reasonable price. The XXX beer was totally to my taste and I bought 1/2 dozen bottles to take away. The staff were all very attentive and pleasant, dealing with a large mixed group of old grumpies in a very friendly and smiley way. It is a lovely old pub in this lovely market town of Bishops Castle. Its the sort of pub you could easily linger in Visualizza piatti

We used to exhibit at the famed Bishops Castle steam rally so as so few places were open on a Bank Holiday, we thought we would see if the Three Tuns was doing food. I pulled over and my wife enquired. We are serving for another hour was the answer but you may have to wait in a real ale pub oh dear! Within minutes we were parked and returned. This time we met a gentleman behind the bar who could not have been less interested. Don't know if the chef will work late, don't know if we have much food left. Frankly he ws ding his best to deter us It worked We walked. How people like this retain business defeats me The indian at the Ganges over the way was very good

we came on sunday the 9th july to give it another go and we had an awful meal. the young lad is rude he dropped our starters off and just wen to the bar and went on his phone, we are locals and we thought we would give it another go. my beef was way over cooked, gravy was like water, roasters was like rocks, stuffing was burnt, and to top it off i found a hair in my meal. the young girl was lovely about it, but the others just stare. they need to have an older member of staff to help them and guide them. the boy is so rude he just walks off. wont be coming back. go to the castle instead 10x better. The staff dont' need to be sitting down at the bar n laughing they need to be working

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
