"Having regularly visited the old Rosebourne for breakfast, and always having been impressed, this morning at 'Hillier ' was a total disappointment. Three of use went for breakfast. The cooked 'Hillier Breakfast ' was no better than a roadside caf. The bacon was fatty and undercooked, the toast was just warm bread, the sausages were cheap, undercooked and nothing like the delicious sausages Rosebourne used to serve, the mushrooms were seemingly tinned/ frozen and the whole meal was just slopped on the plate, swimming in grease. The bacon roll was dry and the portion of toast was thin, measly and hardly toasted. We had to ask for butter, ask for the marmalade we 'd ordered with the toast and the overall wait for food was too long. One of our party had their scone brought to the table a good 20 minutes before the rest of us had our food. Our drinks were more or less finished by the time the hot food came. We 'll not be bothering with breakfast again, it was so disappointing given that it was just shy of £40 for three of us! Hillier have taken over Rosebourne and managed to ruin the restaurant in one fell swoop . . . guess it 's all about the money and profit and less about service and tasty produce!"

Always a great visit to see what they have in store for gardening. A good wine selection plus delicious cheeses and beautiful water features!

Met up with family on Sunday, food was incredible and really good portion size, staff were so friendly and food arrived with hardly any wait. I made a mistake and didn’t order one meal of the party, manager came over and she got this rushed through, highly recommend.

This charming garden center has a lot to offer, including a nice deli with fresh produce and a variety of high-quality items for sale at affordable prices. I had lunch at the restaurant and enjoyed a delicious homemade soup with Welsh rarebit. I can't wait to go back again soon.

Disappointing ploughman’s lunch. At £13.99 it was basically unimaginatively plonked on a plate, the ‘artisan’ bread tasted like a cheap roll, tasteless tomato . I am adding a photo and to compare and contrast a photo of a ploughman’s from Combe Garden Centre which was only one penny more at £14. Please have pride in your kitchen and deliver something to be proud of!

Always go to rosebourne if we ever want a special breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Went for breakfast this morning and it was terrible. Sausages aren't gluten free which means they are filled with cheap rusk. I asked to swap the sausage for bacon. I was informed it could be done at a charge. The breakfast looked cheap and certainly not to its normal standards. Won't be returning. Could've got a better breakfast at Costa.

We were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. We ordered drinks and cakes, but our drinks arrived before the cakes did. We had to chase them down. Other customers who arrived after us received their cakes before we did. There were 10 empty tables around us that had not been cleared. The staff seemed unhappy. Overall, it was not a good experience and it seems to have declined since being taken over by Hilliers.

My wife and I had lunch here today and we can only say “congratulations Hillier” on returning the menu selections and prices to something like they were before the old Rosebourne management put up prices through the roof. The service was impeccable, food cooked and presented perfectly and my wallet is still OK. I hope that the many customers who went elsewhere when the pre-Hillier management got greedy now discover that this is again an excellent place for breakfast and lunch.

The restaurant wasn't very busy, could have been the fact it was very warm outside. The one problem is there is no air conditioning and so it was rather hot and uncomfortable within the restaurant. I ordered a chicken coronation jacket potato which was very nice but I think I'll stick with chicken in a sandwich in future. My friend ordered cream cheese with salmon in jacket potato which she thought was very tasty. For desserts, I had lemon meringue pie whilst my friend had sticky toffee pudding, both were lovely. The food was very nice and reasonably priced, I would recommend.

We visited this restaurant over the weekend for lunch, but I have to say we won't be returning. One person ordered a Caesar salad, which was basically a pile of lettuce with chicken on top. The ploughman's platter was also disappointing and overpriced. I was expecting a mix of salad, cheese, ham, and bread, but what arrived had too much tomato and celery, a small amount of cheese, half a slice of ham, and only two portions of butter. The chutney was the only highlight. One member of our group ordered beans and egg on toast, but only received beans on toast when the egg was questioned. Despite the receipt clearly stating egg on toast with beans, the staff insisted they no longer served it. An...

"hursley needed a decent pub for the years, I found that the competition was a alienating atmosphere and the quality of the food was bad. since hearing the dolphin had new owners I felt that I had to test it, and I must say I am 100% impressed! and I am. said the pub will also be restored in the next months! first I visited with my daughter for a dessert with just us. we were greeted in the pub and our table shown. everything was very clean and my daughter immediately fell in love with the old building and history. the menu included some good clips for children, as we all know that they are with what they eat! eating was amazing! such a high quality and quite expensive. it was made clear to the house and there was no part of it I did not enjoy. the same applies to my daughter who cleaned her teller, and this is rare for her! ben, the manager was warm and friendly and checked for us, but was not intrusive. that can be difficult so I was impressed! the employees were so friendly and very interacting when they spoke to us, they went extra mile to take allergies too. If I were not a native, I would rent one of the rooms they have so that I could eat and drink with a short stolper to bed! if they were not, then they do not wait, the new owners also have the hunters and this is another amazing pub, so it is great to see that they know what they do and use local products and keep the community feeling of the village alive. I would have made more photos of the food, but it was too good to wait for photos! I'll take more when I'm next!"
