The staff were very polite, the beer was well-kept, and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. The menu had excellent options for starters and desserts. I will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you, Martyn.

They do themselves a disservice by having the menu advertise fish served with 'chunky chips ' and 'mushy peas '. In reality it is a meagre portion of frozen steak cut chips and a dessertspoon of smashed up garden peas. I was expecting some nice, hand cut proper spud chips, and real mushy peas are are a world apart from smashed garden peas. I 've had better in Wetherspoon 's for £8 including a drink!

The spacious room was impeccably clean. The check-in process was very formal, as we arrived early and were unable to access our room. Parking was located at the quayside, requiring us to carry our cases quite a distance to the hotel. The sister hotel had exceptional food. We felt unsure if we were truly welcomed at this hotel, however, Stromness is a beautiful place that we thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, a lack of a warm welcome was disappointing.
