"This restaurant is about 100m down the hill from our Pension. We walked in an were greeted by a waitress in traditional dress. We were shown to our tables and when they realised we were English gave us a comprehensive menu in English (not the complete menu though). We were given a salad starter accompanied with bread and herb butter. Which was a bonus as we only ordered a main course. We both chose a Venison main dish both were delicious. My venison was served in a rich gravy with spätzle and cranberry sauce. My husband had venison with potato hazelnut dumplings in a sauce. Hubby had house red and I had a medium sweet white. Both were good quality. Nice atmosphere. Good was well presented and full of taste. We shared a dessert of walnut ice cream in a liqueur which finished the meal off a treat. With tip the meal came to €70 which we thought was reasonable for this quality of dining. A very enjoyable meal. Would recommend this restaurant."

"After we couldn't get anything to eat after 2 p.m. on a rainy Saturday, we happened to pass the charcoal burner. Our mood was at its lowest because of hunger. That changed suddenly with the starter. The porcini mushroom risotto and the porcini mushroom soup were incredibly tasty. The main courses topped it all. Thanks to the entire team, you saved our last day of vacation Food drinks: it was so delicious. The kitchen team deserves an extra star."

"My bf and I went to that place two weeks ago on a Friday night. We had a really bad experience. My bf ordered a cheese pizza and I ordered cannelloni. Little did we know... The pizza ended up being dip freeze although they had a pizza oven. But worst was the cannelloni where the "meat" inside was totally raw and disgusting may I add (see pictures)I thought they made a mistake so I asked the waitress to have a look. Instead of taking the plate back to the kitchen to cook it longer, she replied that it was looking totally normal and she wouldn't do anything about it. We saw her talking to her boss which by the way never came to apologize or fix the mistake. The "highlight" of the dinner was that when she picked our plates (we barely ate anything), she hid mine with a towel because I pilled up all the raw meat to show her the dog food she wanted me to eat. And finally the funniest thing was when she handed us the bill saying she made a discount on the cannelloni and the discount was only ONE Euro !!!!! Worst dining experience of my life so far, DO NOT EVER GO THERE!"

"This hotel far exceeded our expectations. We experienced first class hospitality from the very moment Tobias picked us up at the local train station to the moment he dropped us off. The food is exceptional - home cooked and so many varieties of honey on offer at the breakfast counter; we were spoilt for choice! It was also wonderful to see their dedication to supporting the local community i.e farming and other food supply agents. Deserving of many more stars. We relaxed in the dining area in the evening - pure pleasure as the wood burner lit up the room and warmed our toes! We will be back and I already looking forward to it. Thanks to this family business and the relaxing environment it has offered up, 2017 has gotten off to a great start!"

"The old Black Forest House is located in the district of Fischbach and is a secret tip. Here you can relax in the middle of an idyllic valley, here the fish stream flows down to the canyon lake and gentle meadow slopes. I'm checking the hotel restaurant and I can't say anything to the rooms. In the short term we decided to eat here. Rings around the canyon lake were overcrowded by the possibilities of return, and we hoped to find a place outside. Since we were not reserved before, we have a little two table with chance and luck. The big restaurant was completely reserved. Fortunately, we were there at 5 a.m. so we could eat almost alone and quietly. Most guests came at 6:00, then it became pretty narrow. Cordon Bleu and veal carvings with fresh vegetables, salad and pommes tasted very well. A tannial dish for Mr. B. and a non-alcoholic dish for me. Otherwise, meat and fish dishes are on the map. You have to spend 20 euros for a meal, but it was worth it. You can also sit in a beautiful ambience with subtle background music. When looking out the window you could see some cows that were well balanced on a mountain slope. If you don't have the AHA all the time in your head, it could be so beautiful here. So you could not enjoy the stay very much as it became quite full. But no one can, and I give 4 stars and recommend it."
