"On the quest for the best Thai in Edinburgh, we continued with a trip to thai orchid. The menu looked a lot more varied than others, and it's in a great spot just behind the castle. I opted for the prawns wrapped in an egg parcel, which was light and full of flavour. It came with a delicious sweet chilli dip. Then I had the monkfish red curry. The curry itself was delicious and not too hot. As there was 4 of us, we got rice to share and the portion we got was more than enough, I managed seconds to soak up more of that tasty sauce! One thing to note-they mark the heat of dishes on the menu...trust the chilli gauge! My boyfriend didn't and ended up regretting his choices as it all got a bit...read more"

Amazing Thai Food. Very good service. Although the place can be a little crowded and can make you feel quite cramped up but the food just made it up to it. The Thai Red and Green curry especially have made it worth while. Absolutely fantastic.

Firstly they made us wait even though we had a reservation. The food was very mediocre yet very expensive. The service was indifferent. They took our time to pay a card machine. Wouldn't recommend. There are better Thai restaurants in Edinburgh.

The foods were very much sub standard for thai restaurant. The only reason i gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because thai resto is hard to find in edinburgh. Ordered a pad see yew but what came out was a pad thai like dish which was tasteless. Service was equally bad, the waitresses were not helpful at all.

Great food, great staff. The place is very cozy and we choose it due to the fact that it was near to our home and we wanted to have some Asian food. It is amazing and the price we pay (given the price that we pay for meals in Edinburgh) is very fair. Plenty of food and some nice mint chocolate at the end with the bill. We really enjoyed it.

This place is tucked away right in the heart of theold town (tourist district) behind the castle but a step away from the hustle bustle. The place is run by a group of ladies (one family I think) including the bar, servicex and kitchen. This place serves only Thai food and the food is mouthwatering abd top notch quality. The portion size is adequate, service is quick and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My advice, try Gaeng Pa Pak, Seua Rong Hai Tiger Cry and Prawns Preiw Wan from food menu. You can wash it down with Thai Cold tea or Singha (Thai beer)

Overall impression. Good portions. Average flavor. Too sweet. Meat was a little dry I ordered the Moo Ping (grilled pork with sweet chilli sauce) and the beef massaman curry. Presentation was nice, the the appetizer was served alongside the main dish which was a little confusing There was something not quite right with the massaman curry. I couldn't tell if it was cooked at too high of a temp or if there was too much curry paste However, the banana fritter served at the end was pretty good. The ice cream was pretty cheap, but the batter and crispiness of the friend banana made up for it.

Great Thai in Edinburgh We arrived in Edinburgh and wanted something light after a long train ride from London. This place was close to our hotel so we stopped in. Service was excellent as was the food. We each had the tom kha gai (American bastardization of actual name) which was flavorful and the chicken was so tender and delicious. We shared the panang curry as we were no longer very hungry it would have been the perfect portion for one. We added a jasmine rice which was perfectly cooked. Wine was good and all prices were reasonable. They don’t add the service charge like in London so you have to remember to tip. Lucked into a great find with this one.

I love thai food. Can't get enough. So any chance to try a new one I am more than keen I love that this is a proper family-run, Thai. The food is wonderfully authentic and the staff are lovely I started with chicken satay, one of my favourite dishes. This was MUCH better than your typical Chinese take-away- the chicken was deliciously chargrilled and the sauce was wonderfully fresh I went for a panang, which was AMAZING. Usually I can't stand fruit in a savoury dish, but the peaches in the curry were delightful This is quite a small place so if you are planning to go at the weekend book ahead. This is definitely worth a visit if you're near the royal mile.

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
