"This last visit was probably the 50th meal I have had at the Angel. The refurbishment of the bar area has ripped some of the cosiness that was there before but is nevertheless very modern although our table was adjacent to the bar and could be affected by noise. We were the only table in use in this area so it lacked a bit of atmosphere. However my main issue is the food. Whilst my main course was cooked very well the amount of food provided in all 3 courses was quite minimal. For a cost of £210 for 3 people this did not signify great value."

The location is lovely, and starting with a coffee and a biscuit before heading out for a walk was perfect. The tasting menu was delightful; I could have easily enjoyed another five courses!

I attempted to cancel my reservation on OpenTable after receiving an email from The Angel in Hetton, informing me that they were still closed. Unfortunately, I couldn't do it through their app.

Wonderful food at reasonable price. Friendly helpful staff. Definitely recommend The Angel. Will return,also fabulous scenery, great location.Can’t recommend enough.We had Hooting Owl Old Yorkshire gin in a martini..... delicious. Good parking. We had a delightful experience at The Angel. The location is absolutely stunning, and the staff is attentive without being overbearing. The food is beautifully presented, and both its appearance and flavor are remarkable. While it is on the pricier side, it’s perfect for special occasions when you want to treat yourself to something exceptional.

We have been visiting the Angel for 30 years but since it was taken over and refurbishment it's an even better experience. The decor is elegant and understated and perfectly in keeping with the location. The staff were charming and attentive and we even received a birthday card for one of our parry. The food was utterly sublime!! Will definitely return as soon as possible. 6 stars!!
