"Stopped here 1 pm Thursday lunchtime as we were driving past and the car park at the front of this nice looking pub restaurant had plenty of free spaces. We were surprised at the notice on the door saying “No Children” but went inside to the empty restaurant (just one table of 4 occupied). We took a seat and the waitress brought over the lunch menu. The cheapest offering was £14, baked ham, egg and chips or scampi and chips. I ordered a small glass of Sauvignon Blanc and we ordered the ham and scampi. The wine was brought over in a chipped glass (on the base) and the bottle had obviously been opened a few days ago. I didn’t complain at that point but if I had known the price, £7.50, I probably would have. The meals arrived promptly and I noticed immediately there was a problem with my ham. Although hand carved the edges of the two slices were dry and grey. I lifted off the top slice to see the slice underneath was also wet, sticky and grey in the middle. It also smelt “off”. I called the waitress back and said I couldn’t eat the ham for obvious reasons. She took it back and came back almost immediately saying “the chef says there is nothing wrong with the ham, he cooked it this morning, but would you like something else”. I was so taken aback with the response I just said can he do me egg and chips. She returned 5 minutes later with a fresh plate containing the original egg and 6 chips. I said is that the same egg and chips I returned, “yes” was the reply, the Chef has reheated the chips. So, I have in front of me a small, child portion, of stone cold fried egg and refried chips. I was hungry so ate this dismal offering and asked for the bill. Unbelievably I was charged full price for ham, egg, chips. Had to insist the bill was adjusted and it was to £3.50 for a bowl of chips and £2 for my egg. Was told to pay at the bar. At the bar I again said how disappointed I was, especially being served ham in such a condition. At this point another woman, maybe the manager, pulled the waitress aside and said there was nothing wrong with the ham, they cook a fresh ham every day and that I probably don’t know what a fresh baked ham looks like. How insulting can you be. I probably baked my first glazed ham before she was even born. I paid the bill, feeling ripped off and insulted. This was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had."

They must work very hard to keep up the quality and choice. It was a bit chilly in there but appreciate the increasing costs of running a venue without passing that on to customers.

We ate at the Bull during a stay in Cottered for a wedding nearby. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was really tasty. Will definitely return if we are in the area again.

I have never had a bad meal at the Bull in Cottered. Went for a family meal with my granddaughter and son-in-law from Melbourne in Australia and 3 others. I had the delicious calves liver with a cheesy sauce, new potatoes and onion rings. My sister had the Halibut. Others had fillet steak cooked to perfection. Well done chef! Visualizza piatti

Sitting back from a busy country road in a lovely village setting, The Bull presents a warm friendly atmosphere. with many rustic features. The Lunchtime menu was excellent and service friendly and efficient. Menu was impressive and high class which made choice difficult but French Onion Soup followed by Liver Mash highly recommended. Everything was nicely presented with generous portions and many extras. Highly recommended in every respect and the monthly music evenings look intriguing.

I had previously recommended this pub restaurant to friends, but after my recent experience, I would not do so again. The beer was priced exorbitantly, the service was lacking, and the welcome was non-existent – we were immediately asked if we had made a reservation, and reprimanded for not doing so despite the restaurant being nearly empty at 6:30pm on a weeknight. The staff were unaccommodating, refusing to take a photo of our group when asked and constantly insisting on how busy they were despite the lack of other customers. Additionally, a service charge was added to our bill, which is against the law, and they were unwilling to remove it.

"I recently moved from Stanstead Abbotts, a beautiful little village in the valley of the river Lea. At the end of the high street is this quaint little Thai restaurant that I used to walk by and always said to myself Before I leave this village, I will book a table and have a meal So said so done. On the afternoon of my move, I asked if they had a table available (on the spot) which they did not hesitate to give me. The restaurant has 2 sections, the front is the largest. I was given a table at the back, as I 'm assuming the other tables were reserved. The menu is vast, bright and colourful, with a touch of personal personality and the price points were within my budget, plus I was giving myself a treat. I ordered 4 dishes: 1. Pad Thai chicken Ginger dish, which I thought came with noodles, but didn 't 2. Crispy sweet and sour beef 3. Thai Green curry 4. Coconut rice This was accompanied by a medium size glass of Lemonade with a slice of Lemon for garnish. The Presentation was nicely served on white plates which made the colours of the food stand out. I had two waitresses, MiMi looked after me the most and frequently asked if all was well as I ate. I was quite hungry, so she said no rush. The decore in the back of the restaurant was embellished with potted plants, hanging from the ceiling with, faux red leather benched seating and whitewashed brick walls. Where I sat (at the back) felt slightly cut off from the main hub of the restaurant, which did affect my overall experience, albeit I was grateful to be given a table, at such short notice, so I reframed that circumstance. I could hear chatter in the busy kitchen, as takeaway orders, were going out, as well as seated reservations. BACK TO THE FOOD: All dishes were served hot and well presented. My Thai curry was in a bowl, that almost tipped over, not sure if that was my haste or the design of the bowl. This tasted exquisite. The flavours bounced around my pallet and the chicken was so succulent and morrish with a touch of heat! As I stated earlier, from the illustration on the menu I ordered Pad Thai, which I assumed was a noodle dish, yet when it arrived it was just chicken and ginger in a sauce. There must have been a miscommunication when I was making my order...Never mind, I had enough in front of me and wondered if my eyes were too big for my belly ! The crispy beef was OK, a little chewy! and the coconut rice was a delight. All in all, I was full and the meal satisfied my hunger. In reflection, if I was to order all over again, I would have ordered x2 THAI GREEN CURRY and I would have been happy, The bill was brought to my table promptly, after I asked for it in a nice golden ornate-looking bowl, accompanied by two pearl mints (nice touch) Now for the hard part.. The Bill I was pleasantly surprised to pay £38.35, that afternoon, excluding a service charge (not sure if that was because I was eating alone or what) If I were to give my whole experience of dining at Khunnai Thai Cuisine a mark out of Ten, I would grade it 7/10. Room for improvement: The decore in the back part of the restaurant, maybe some soft Thai music, Change the colour of the deep red Faux leather seating to something more tropical looking, Maybe an extension for outside dining, at the back (during summer) and a little less NaCl. Comments are given all in goodwill. Thank you for a tasty meal. I would definitely eat at Kuhnnai Thai Cuisine and bring my friends or family along...Next time I will book a table for the front of the restaurant, which appeared to be a more open-plan layout with a buzzing atmosphere."
