Really nice decent food service was great just a shame one dish came out cold but will definitely be going back if I can

A cosy pub with food as good as any excellent restaurant! Service was very friendly and efficient. Not an easy pub to find, but well worth the effort.

What a very good experience... Lovely country pub, great staff and the food was excellent, scotch duck egg with sweet and sour picalilly .. beautiful, Hake with a rapeseed pomme puree... Excellent and to finish apple choux. Definitely be going back even if it is a bit off the beaten track

This is, without doubt the best Sunday Lunch in Devon. IMHO. The food is of the best quality, cooked to perfection. The staff are so friendly and efficient. The place has a really pleasant atmosphere. My son, from London, says 'says you can 't get better. It has become the place to eat for us. WELL DONE!

Visited lunch time for husband’s birthday treat we were not disappointed. The greeting, service, food ambiance were all wonderful! First time out in a couple of years found the experience very safe excellent in every respect. Thank you to the team, including chef, waiters etc. You are all doing a great job.

I'm not a vegan but I thought I would try the Salted Carrots with Lentils and it was incredible. Packed full if flavour and texture. As reward for my virtuous behaviour I opted for a big fat serving of Honeycomb Cheesecake and I certainly wasn't disappointed their. All the sins and all the flavour. Lovely setting too with beautiful gardens and fine selection of ales and wines. I was driving so opted for water and really good coffee.

First time visit to the Five Bells, upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff who couldn’t have done more for us throughout the evening. The background music was good and the right volume but that’s kind of where the atmosphere stopped, the lack of personal touch in the decor was a bit sad. Our starter was fantastic, although it took a while to arrive. Then another long wait ensued for the mains, admittedly a lot of tables came in at the same time so I guess the kitchen was over-run but not sure that should be happening in a smaller establishment.
