"We have visited this restaurant before and had an absolutely wonderful meal with excellent food and friendly service. The last visit was sadly a different experience.Why is there a problem?We returned for a Birthday dinner with the family. 5 persons in total including my two daughters aged 23 and 21. When ordering alcoholic drinks at the table to accompany the starters for our meal, the waitress asked for ID from my youngest daughter. Since she was not driving or paying she had not brought anything with her, not expecting to need anything. Now I accept that maybe not bringing ID was an oversight, but we were eating. The waitress pointed out a sign that was behind the bar that said If you look under 25 then we will ask for ID. Now I accept that in normal times when young people may be walking up to the bar and ID is required quite right. I did discuss this with the waitress, as my daughter was distressed. However we were eating and I did ask if it was OK, but the there was no change to the reply.I accept that people that are under 18 yrs can look older so appreciate the rules At the bar!The law is quite specific, It is not illegal:For someone over 18 to buy a child over 16 beer, wine or cider if they are eating a table meal together in licensed premises.For a child aged five to 16 to drink alcohol at home or on other private premises. Therefore on this occasion the age limit would be 16 in our company. To be under 16 and therefore illegal my daughter would have to be 15 yrs old. With no stretch of the imagination could she have been 15yrs old.I fully respect the law but this was very poor interpretation of a company rule, and misguided by referring to 18 yrs old. As a result my daughter did not want to eat initially. It completely ruined the atmosphere of a celebration. The meal cost almost £150 and I feel we had a very poor night out. I would ask the management to instruct their staff to use some common sense, and ensure that they know the age is 16 yrs for someone eating in the company of adults."

I don’t usually do reviews but I’ve shared this one twice. Hands down the best meal I’ve ever had from a pub. Absolutely delicious, so friendly and generous portions too! We will be back!

Had another fabulous meal from the Horseshoes, beef burger, chips not forgetting the giant onion rings... Lemon crunch pudding just as good in the restaurant! Can't wait for our next meal!

Have had many meals at The Four Horseshoes over the years and have never been disappointed! Always top quality food and generous portion sizes. And the staff are always so welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended!!

We would like to thank the staff of the Horseshoes for their efficient, personal and quality service yesterday. Our takeaway meal was delicious it was tasty and kept hot whilst I took it home. We look forward to the next one.

Me and my Girlfriend very much enjoy a meal from the shoes, never a complaint! Definitely recommend the burgers!! Looking forward to having a meal in the restaurant when we’re allowed! Thanks to all who work at the shoes for yet another great meal!!

What a wonderful experience this evening, we had an incredible turkey roast dinner and I cannot recommend the Four Horseshoes highly enough. We were waited on superbly throughout and the team went out of their way to make us feel welcome with engaging conversation and genuine interest in the customer. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

We made a reservation here for dinner for my partner's birthday. The food was delicious, with speedy service.We had the camembert bites for starter. My partner had the steak, and I had a chicken breast burger. Both were delicious... The pudding stole the show which was a homemade cheesecake with a brownie base! With the covid situation, there were plenty of tables with some of these under shelter with heaters.Would highly recommend.

Stayed here for a couple of nights while house hunting in the area. On the face of it, the menu looks fairly standard fare but it is all so well cooked and flavoured that the result takes is way above the average. Some of the best whitebait I have ever had in generous but not silly quantities and an excellent breakfast. Waiting staff were delightful throughout. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day. I think they could be a little more adventurous with their wine list. It is adequate but the food deserves better.

I cannot thank you Tom and your staff enough. You arranged everything and it was perfect. Staff had to take orders from guests who were inside, under the covered area and scattered across the lovely pub garden. Their patience was amazing and nothing was too much trouble when it came to finding guests who had given their orders for drinks and food and then scattered around the pub and grounds. Tom, your staff are a credit to you and they could have not been more helpful and friendly. The food was great and the setting was perfect. It could not have been better.
