"We had been to this pub some months ago to attend a Wake, of which it was good. We were again in the area after a Funeral and wanted a light bite. The pub offers good parking although smashed glass in the car parking area. Seating inside or out. We choose indoors. The menu had a good variety of choice. However after placing an order of a Small Fish and Chips around 6.50, and a starter with Haddock and Cheese, the waitress returned to our table to inform us there was no haddock. The order was replaced with a Waldorf Salad, at 8.50. Two pieces of chicken, no celery was present and not even half a walnut. Great sauce over lettuce though! The walnut pieces were the size of pin heads. I pointed this out to the waitress as I could not see any, nor could I recognize the pieces of walnut they could have pine pine nuts, and when we came to pay, I mentioned the lack of celery and walnuts again, as the message had not been given to other staff. Therefore value for money: regards Salad= poor Service: average, staff were not concerned about customers, nor did we feel looked after. A disappointing visit. It was a Thursday and quiet around 8pm"

Not our first time going to the Frozen mop, and won’t be our last.. once again from the moment you walk in until you leave you are treated really well. The manager David couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome, very attentive nothing was too much as we had a disabled lady in the party and she was very well looked after which made the experience even better for us all. Great work David x Visualizza piatti

Very average experience. Sunday roast with beef..well that's what I expected..got a large Yorkshire pudding, spoon of mash, 2 small roasties, cabbage, carrot, parsnip all mixed up..2 small feather weight wafer thin slices of beef..gravy over the lot. total rip off for the price. If you want serving in a sensible time span and drinks within 20 mins of sitting down this isn't the place for you either. When a place is expensive for food and drinks you expect a certain standard across the board, this didn't deliver in any area sorry. Won't be returning for a very long time, much better places within 10 minutes drive.

A nice family get together was the reason for eating at the Frozen Mop or The Mop as it seems to be now known. We were a party of around 12 so to be fair they did well to execute all dishes and serve warm and at the same time. Meals included fish n chips cheese pie and burgers. I opted for a crispy beef salad with crispy noodles and whilst very tasty I think the term ‘salad’ was stretching it a little, tasty all the same. Staff were friendly and did well however the restaurant was a little grubby in parts ie carpet had old food on it in places which I presume was recently deposited. Perfectly acceptable with a nice outdoor area covered over for anyone wanting some fresh air whilst they eat d...

We had come down for my bother-in-law cricket match (Sat19/8). We decided very late to go for dinner with 7 of us I was thinking it would hard to get a table. We got one at 6 o’clock and my 2 year old could play in the little playground they have before dinner. The service was very good can’t have a bad word to say about them a very polite young lady. The food was phenomenal my wife said I couldn’t have a burger again this week . So I decided to have the veggie main a bhaji this really was fantastic the flavours, textures the look Just everything I enjoyed. Yes I maybe a chef so I never write reviews but this was so good, I just have to wonder why O’why it was so deadly quiet only 2 tables i... Visualizza piatti

1st time visiting as 2 family’s/friends. 7 of us for a Sunday lunch. We were greeted when we arrived and shown to a table. The young lads waiting on we’re very helpful and polite, you could see they were all working very hard, and with a cheery attitude. Food arrived quite quickly, prob within about 20/30 minutes max. Most of us had roast dinners/roast wrap/then kids meals. The kids roast was massive, as were all the Yorkshire’s. The adults meals were a perfect size and we all really enjoyed them. Me and my husband really enjoyed the cheesecakes, although disappointed it didn’t come with cream or ice cream, but as soon as I mentioned this to the waiting on staff he offered to get me some cre...

I visited the frozen mop with my family, 4 adults and 2 children. Lovely day so we sat outside Ordered all the meals , had to repeat the order several times , the two gentleman seemed confused After 30 minutes we asked where the food was , to be told it was been prepped. 10 minutes later it arrived and two meals were missing. The gentleman told me I hadn’t ordered the two missing meals , 100% I did as I had to repeat it twice . One of the meals missing was the little one , so we ended up splitting up the meals as she was hungry. 30-40 minutes later the meal arrived for my daughter. No apologies We then quizzed the bill . This took another 20 minutes Not once did the manager say they were sor...

"Having successfully deposited our eldest in her new Uni digs and having enjoyed an evenings kip in an adjoining Manchester hotel we were in two minds where to breakfast. MrsC’s growing angst over the likely state of our home after allowing our youngest free rein for a garden party proved persuasive so we decided on an early exit an victuals en route. A scan of Happy Cow and Google combined allied to our southbound travel threw up Wild and Wild as a convenient stop off before we rejoined the M6. Pleased to see that it opened at 10;00am on a Sunday whilst registering our likely arrival at 10:15 we added the required SatNav waypoint and trained our behemoth on its new path. There was convenient free parking on the Sunday and we ambled on the pedestrianised section to Wild and Wild; sitting slightly incongruously next to a Costa. The place is light and well laid out and an enticing array of cakes and pastries greets you as you enter. The usual instructive board informed us “to please wait to be seated” which we did. The young lady who appeared to be both front of house, barista and server said she would be with us after serving her present customer; which was fine but, in truth, simply having the menus on the tables and allowing you to sit yourself at empty unreserved tables would seemed to have been the least intrusive and effective means of managing the flow? Anyway we were handed drinks/food menus and then informed that we could, in effect, do exactly that and seat ourselves. The breakfast/brunch menu was concise but convincing and for speed and efficiency MrsC and I settled on two “full English”, vegan of course, and two oat milk lattes. Queued again and gave the order and paid there and then. Though we haven’t been out too much recently the coffee prices seemed about right but the breakfast seemed a tad high. Understanding how inflation is hitting that might just be an impression but if we had stayed in Manchester and returned to the Lounge a similar menu would have been 30% less. Then it started going awry. The wait for the coffee seemed long; the wait for the food almost interminable (around 40-45 mins in truth) Halfway through that wait another server had magicked into operation and it switched from queuing to order to table service. She was professional enough to highlight to new incoming customers that drinks would be about 10 mins/food 30. Something not considered worthy of note to us earlier arrivals. The breakfast was ok. The vegan sausages appeared homemade with rice wrapper “skins” but they were woefully dry and overcooked. The whole vine of oven roasted cherry tomatoes were good as was the star of the show the Smokey “baked beans”. The toast was good quality bread but cut too thin to successfully soak up both beans and the sweet tomatoes. The other components of mixed greens and mushrooms and tofu scramble were under seasoned and a little bland. The potato rosti was a little dense but ok. Sadly the food was underwhelming and more so due to the long wait; ill fitting the vibe and the surroundings especially as the place wasn’t heaving at any time. Always feel awkward knocking eateries in these uncertain times but, in this case, expectations raised by the feel of the place allied to the prices charged, we’re not met by the quality of the food. Perhaps it’s better suited to an afternoon cake and a drink session? Disappointed."

"Wow!!! It has been many years since my last meal at the Brownlow. My late wife Dee and I used to dine here regularly. After her passing, I spent a lot of time working in Sub-Equatorial Africa, providing water to remote areas. Now that I am back in Congleton, some of my neighbors decided to take me out for a birthday lunch, and to my surprise, they chose the Brownlow. I was a bit apprehensive, as the restaurant held so many wonderful memories for me. However, from the moment I walked in, any doubts I had were quickly dispelled. The warm greeting and smile at the reception desk set the tone for the rest of our dining experience. We were promptly seated with menus in hand, and our pre-meal drinks (a perfectly chilled Pinot) arrived with efficiency. The professionalism displayed in serving our meals was commendable and something that is often lacking in other restaurants. The presentation of our dishes was impeccable, and the quality of the food was evident in the clean plates at the end of our meal. I have always believed that people eat with their eyes first, and even those who prioritize presentation would be pleased with the artistry on display here. I will have no problem recommending the Brownlow to my family and friends in the future. The whole team's friendly and welcoming demeanor made for a pleasant dining experience. Special thanks to Simon, the chef, for a job well done - you definitely deserve a raise! I am already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you for a memorable meal. Norman A Dean."
