Lovely place to use as a base to explore Rutland water. The food was excellent.

The food was amazing and the staff were so welcoming. The atmosphere was great and the menu was one of the most unique I've come across in a while.

It was very good. The food was great and the the service too. Defenitely worth a visit. We have been there for Sunday roast. And we will do it again. Thank you very much.

The interior of the restaurant is charming and the beer selection is excellent. We received a warm welcome. However, the outside area is in poor condition and the website comes across as pretentious. It was odd to see an employee power washing the outdoor seating areas on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, while smoking and drinking a beer.

A bit quirky and as can be seen from the previous review possibly not to everyones tastes but we had a great meal , cooked well and so thought should try and address some of the points raised elsewhere. There was a fair amount of game on the menu and a couple of dishes which were somewhat challenging sounding including squirrel. Overall there is plenty of choice and everything was cooked and presented to a high standard. Emptied out quite early on a Friday as a lot of diners seemed to be resident and finished dinner early then went. I would recommend giving it a try and dont be sacred off by the squirrel! Came for Sunday lunch to celebrate my husbands 60th. Food was good in parts but roasted veg was very under cooked and not edible. Roast potatoes were also not great. Meat was lovely. We were placed on an unsuitable table on top of reception which meant loud intrusive conversations kept happening across us which completely spoilt our meal and we found rude. And were later told even though I had booked months in advance that we weren't given our planned table as people were lingering and hadn't given up our table when they should of. So I felt the organisation wasn't strong in coping with a busy restaurant. And it spoilt our enjoyment on what for us was a special occasion.

Ive had pre-booked table here and after seeing the review below I was apprehensive. Our outcome and experience was entirely different, it was wonderful experience! The staff were entirely attentive to our every need and so warm and welcoming! The food was of such amazing quality and so tasty with brilliant portion sizes! (Definitely would recommend the BBQ platter and ribeye! We all can't wait to return and try out the rest of the menu. We absolutely loved how you can see where all the produce comes from locally, which is shown on the board. The homemade fruit gins are a gorgeous addition, so flavoursome! . My visit to the restaurant was not a pleasant experience. We made a reservation and arrived at 8pm, only to be rushed through the entire meal. The waitress seemed uninterested and grumpy when we ordered just a beer and a glass of tap water. They were quick to inform us that they had sold out of steak, the only normal option on the menu at a price of £35. Feeling disappointed with the menu offerings, we decided not to order. The waitress even assumed we were vegetarian, which we found rude. Despite mentioning they had lamb from Launde Butchery, trying to impress us, we were unimpressed as we are local farmers who regularly work with Launde Butchers.
