"Visited Saturday with family. Shocked at the terrible afternoon tea we were served. Stale bread and poor service, asked three different waiters to clear our dirty plates, and barely touched food, alas this never happened! Staff need proper training as they had no clue and were inexperienced at waiting tables so quality of service not really their fault, although there was an attempt to add a £22 service tip! The usual lovely ambiance was non existent and there seems to have been an attempt at modernising the room that has the lovely fire place which was a terrible idea as the design was not appropriate to the age of the building, chrome coffee tables are fine if they are polished and cleaned, these were dirty and grubby! So very disappointed and sorry to say will not be visiting St Michaels Manor again."

Will never return again. Meat tough and undercooked, plates cold, ridiculously small portions and overpriced. Service not great either. On the upside, the gardens and lake are beautiful.

Am I the only one who finds the website for the lake restaurant to be not user-friendly? Clicking on "accept cookies" does nothing, there is limited information and no prices when trying to view the menu, and there is no option to book online. These are all issues that I haven't experienced when booking with any other restaurant.

We went to celebrate my mum surviving ovarian cancer at 82 . We were warmly welcomed . The staff bent over backwards to make it a memorable time . But still keeping to COVID rules. The sandwiches were full and the flavors Difeerent. The staff were attentive to our every need. A huge thanks to Richard the general manager and his team .

Booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was delighted by the whole unrushed experience. Food excellent, beautifully presented and menu creative. The service was attentive but not intrusive, the food and drink manager deserves a special mention for his excellent service. Little extras made our anniversary. A real find and will certainly be visiting again.

We had a happy afternoon tea celebrating my mother's birthday with good company in a beautiful lakeside restaurant setting. We were very well looked after, the service was immaculate and the tea was plentiful with tasty sandwiches, warm scones jam and cream followed by macaroons, little lemon tarts and fruity cheesecake. English breakfast tea with a glass of bubbly. Highly recommend.

Beautiful setting very disappointing afternoon tea. Sandwiches were unadventurous the bread was not fresh. Scones were overcooked served with plum jam????? Cake selection included a savarin which was dry with wilted fruit on top. Cheesecake with a gelatine based topping was served to a vegetarian party. Plates were cold scones were cold service was forgetful. Very overpriced for what was served I wouldn't recommend have eaten much much better afternoon teas for the same price

Booked lunch, but only A la carte evening menu available minimum £40 for 3 courses. O.K. will enjoy ordered 4 lamb and 1 beef main ,4 beef and 1 lamb arrived, seeing the lamb we accepted as we appeared to be the only people having lunch everyone else was having afternoon tea at 1pm!. Had to ask for steak knives but still could not cut beef, but none of us could identify the lamb which looked and tasted like two lumps of a cats tail. To say we were disappointed is an understatement we forwent desserts and coffees and will never return.

We were promptly served with individual tea requests, and asked about dietary needs which we had already communicated when booking. We requested no cheese, but unfortunately our food took 45 minutes to arrive, and it came with cheese. The sandwiches appeared to be frozen and were served on stale bread with fillings that were difficult to distinguish. It was clear that they were not freshly made, even though the restaurant was not busy. The scones seemed to have been reheated in a microwave, as they were warm but not fresh, and the jam was thin and runny. The two staff members were polite and helpful, but it seemed like they were embarrassed by the quality of the food. Overall, we will not be...

"Yammin-Yummy says. ... 5 stars ... also a rarely awarded- 'beezybonus'. . . now, where do I begin to begin with such an amazingly appealing selection of freshly prepared foods that one would naturally expect that, already cooked, sitting, waiting for the next hungry expected customers. this can sometimes cook up to 10-20-50mins before they are placed in front of them. not here. freshly cooked. now this beautiful example of a traditional 'fish chip love affair, established over generations of Friday nights, was beautifully designed to tell their mouth, tonge taste panties, please attach their belts, and then it is about them an incredible arbor ride. ... one who seems to go up just as once they decided what's going in their mouth first (at least the crispy tail end) begins their incredible journey up; as their eyebrows increase during thinking, omg that 's sooo different good, light, crispy teig as I've never tasted in my 37 years since the beginning in the food industry. And then I made the mistake of dipping my squid in the homemade tartaric acid sauce. that is when the 1st massive fear happened, as I thought, oh my days; the better then mean, re-entry, deeper, actually cure my wrist action, to ensure maximum absorption of this sweet/creamy/tart/caper filled taste, as I reached for a chip to accompany, strengthen the excellent experience I thought stupid would be a 'standard thing'. Now I took care of you like this, but I have seen on my chips a few each mouthful was an experience, depending on how I stacked the fork, hahahaha. the fish was so fresh that I was looking on my teller sand. ... to dedicate a joy to each chip. ... the muddy heaps, normally warmed, not microshaft to a mass-hotter-then-the-sun, went a tasty bite, and quickly also, for once. the lemon shattered haddock had to be tied to the plate, because this teig was so light that it almost raised to the deck. but as soon as this handmade tasty tartaric acid sauce meets, any responsible 'handler-of-the-fork', wants to make sure that its only trajectory can be swallowed in their waiting swallow. It was so good, I couldn't stand to leave a single diesel and with this tartaric acid sauce, which even made a bulky chip, was nothing left, I was ashamed to ask the cook the recipe for 'this sauce', as he made such a light oil-free beautiful teig. the staff is very attentive, courteous, with a beautiful large sitting area also. get yourself here quickly bungalows to make an ordinary experience, in an excellent exciting eating expedition into a court that we all know so well, but so different. ... enjoy."

"Ever since they opened, I 've been for family gatherings, social events and dates and every time it has not disappointed. The staff are always welcoming and have a positive attitude. They are attentive, happily explaining the menu and how food should be ordered making recommendations. The menu itself doesn 't overwhelm with choice and is perfect for those with all tastes. There are plenty of veggie options and the wine is impeccably selected. The food is absolutely delicious and very well presented. The quality is evident. The portion sizes are perfect and not just stomach fillers (e.g. excess bread or rice). Every bite feels worth it. Please be aware that this restaurant is about sharing and each dish is made for it. There are no 'courses '. It 's about ordering the dishes you want and they will arrive when ready. With all the above in mind, this does mean that the prices are on the higher end and with alcohol you can expect to spend around £40 per person if you also include desserts (which are also incredible, especially the Creme brûlée). This might seem expensive, but remember, it 's about the experience, not just the food! Tabure is worth every penny in my humble opinion. If it 's just the two of you and you 'd like something different with a significant other, I 'd highly suggest requesting seats at the chefs table over looking the charcoal grill! It 's amazing watching the chefs work their magic and adds so much to the experience that most restaurants don 't provide."
