Lock Quay Bar and Restaurant

Spent the evening celebrating my daughter's birthday. Lovely evening, lovely food, we we're all looked after well, by the staff and management.

Avoid at all costs! The manager was rude, the food was disgusting, and it was overpriced. You're better off going to McDonald's. Don't waste your hard-earned money and ruin your night by dining here.

Lovely spot, tranquil and picturesque, little tricky to find. Once we'd made our choices (first two unavailable sadly) service was quick, efficient, cheerful and friendly. Food was delicious and plentiful, Caesar Salad and Lamb Shank. Too full for pudding! Visualizza piatti

We recently had our wedding reception at Lock Quay and it was incredibly successful. Denise and her staff played a huge role in making it a wonderful event. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We highly recommend this beautiful waterfront venue to others.

The food was good and the service was excellent, but the pod was a problem. There was a lot of condensation inside and as a result the flooring got wet. Some of us had put bags on the floor which were soaked through as a result. There needs to be some kind of ventilation in the pods.

Lovely family lunch with our elderly parents. The manager was very patient and caring with my father. All the food was cooked very well and we all enjoyed our lunch. Nice live music outside. After living here for 27 years I can honestly say you’ll never get a more consistently amazing restaurant then lock and quay!! From your average meal to Sunday roast all meals have always come outstanding!!!!! The chefs deserves appreciation aswell as staff and should be noticed in Christchurch as the best place to eat!! I recently visited this restaurant after a long break and found that the food was good. However, myself and others in my group received parking tickets while dining. When I inquired about the tickets, I was told that car registrations needed to be entered on a pad located at the entrance of the restaurant, along with a notice stating that failure to do so would result in a fine. This system was not in place or visible on the day we visited, and I was unaware of the new policy implemented in January. We were quite possibly one of the Lock and Quay's more unusual customers being a party of 15 arriving in 7 narrowboats at Willowtree Marina. I knew in advance that the restaurant had been booked out for a private party but even so Denise agreed for her kitchen to provide a take away for us all. We had drinks in the bar first (which was lively as the party was just getting underway! and the at 7.00 p.m. on the dot our orders came out of the kitchen beautifully packaged with individually named bags. We split in to two groups and took our meals back to the boats.
