"My first visit to Morning Star was a great experience. We were there to see a talented musician named Dan Towers, who has quite a following in Oldham after moving from Bury, where he's already well-known and has even performed at Glastonbury. Although we didn't order any food since we had already eaten, the dishes being served looked absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back for some of their famous Cheese and Onion pies. The staff was friendly, efficient, and there were plenty of them working during the busy Easter weekend. The drinks were also reasonably priced and of good quality. Dan Towers was a hit with the diverse crowd of all ages at the venue, with the loudest applause coming from the back. Interestingly, the tables closest to the stage were all reserved but remained unoccupied. Despite this, the performance was energetic and engaging, with Dan showcasing his impressive guitar skills and unique blend of rock and country music, including some of his original songs. Unlike the typical pub gig, Dan's musical abilities stood out. At one point, a group of local guys attempted to join in on a song, but Dan responded with an impressive guitar solo, showing his professionalism. The Morning Star offers ample parking, and the atmosphere and decor are just right for a local pub. Overall, it was a fantastic night out. Thank you for the great experience."

The food at this restaurant is excellent. It is the best pub food in the Oldham area and I highly recommend it. The cheese and onion pie is the best I have ever had, it tastes like homemade food. The staff are also very friendly. Visualizza piatti

We went for my mother in law's birthday and it was fairly busy but we jad booked our table for 7pm. Nobody came to take our order and we were sat for a while. I went to the bar to ask if it was table or order at the bar and was told it was table service. The final straw was someone's dog peed on the floor next to our table and nobody came to clean it up. Sorry Morning Star but we will not be back.

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The service was poor due to understaffing, and the food was not up to par. The soup was overly salty and unappetizing. The prawn and crayfish cocktail was lacking in crayfish and the portion was small. The crispy beef and burger were both bland and tasteless. Overall, I was very disappointed with my meal. Additionally, when it came time to pay using a voucher, the staff seemed unsure of how to process the bill. In the end, I felt that the £40 I spent was not well worth it. Visualizza piatti

We come here because it’s our local The pub and restaurant are gorgeous proper old fashioned comfortable bar and separate restaurant areas. Food is very pub grub and mediocre The service probably depends on who is on duty the last time we visited it was shocking we waited over an hour for our food, others waited longer, tables weren’t cleared etc. we thought it was because the waiting staff were really busy but when we went to the bar to pay because no one had come to our table for ages) they were both standing around chatting We will probably visit again we really want and need somewhere with good food in Shaw hope it improves soon

Having had several lovely meals here and probably one of the best Sunday roasts around,we booked a table for 7pm on Sunday. When we arrived and told them we had booked a table I heard the guy behind the bar speak to who I think was the manageress and heard her tell him to see if he could find us a table. The guy led us around the corner where he told us he had bad news. He said they had stopped serving at 7 as it was the weekend before a bank holiday! No it’s not the weekend before a bank holiday, that’s next weekend Why weren’t we told when we booked a table to eat that they weren’t serving food. Why weren’t we told at the bar that they weren’t serving food. Needless to say we turned around...

"Our second visit was even better than our first and that was great! My wife and I visited the Puckersley with friends who live close by. It was our second visit and we remembered that the food was good. A new menu had been introduced just that evening (Friday the 13th) and I noticed a selection of “Rice Bowls” from which I chose the King Prawn option. I can’t fully remember the menu description but it was something like “Salt and Pepper Spicy King Prawns Rice Bowl” MY GOODNESS! I have eaten in some fancy places and never have I been more surprised and delighted by a dish than I was that night. It was served beautifully, the prawns were lightly battered like Tempura prawns they were on a bed of egg fried rice surrounded by a lovely sauce containing goodness knows how many different chilli peppers and beautifully diced vegetables. It was even more enhanced by some greenery (sorry, i forgot what it was) which reminded me of a lightly fried rocket which just melted in your mouth. The dish is a TRIUMPH and must not be missed. I look forward to trying the other versions of this dish on our next visit and we will certainly visit again. Our friends ordered steaks which arrived cooked exactly as they requested which is unusual in itself but not, our friends say, at the Puckersley! My wife could only look enviously at my bowl but fortunately reported that her Scampi was excellent too. The waiting staff (All girls as it happened) were very happy, smiling and extremely efficient too. DO NOT MISS THIS PUB, IT IS A GEM."
