"1 st visite to this pub it will not be the last quaint old building just off the center of Saffron Walden gold street is a small road with no visitor parking but only a short walk from the common or swan medow Not a large pub but tables in dining room are well spaced giving a comfortable atmosphere and a realy plesant place to eat The menue has a very good selection of light bites ,Sandwiches or panines served with salad and chips . i had the fish platter well prepared and served. Tasty with a good portion size all the food served for a table of 6 was of the same high quality the whole menue is loaded with classic favourite dishes Good well kept beer to staff are friendly cheerfull and turn up at the right time. All in a very good lunch. A building this age is often very difficult to access in a wheel chair but in this case there is only a very small step at entrance plenty of room in bar and dinning room on the down side there is a step up to the loos but the staff tell us without fuss where an accessable toilet could be found"

I was pleasantly surprised by my dining experience at this restaurant. The food exceeded my expectations and the atmosphere was truly impressive. I enjoyed the lentil soup and the sirloin steak salad, both of which were delicious.

Food seemed very good. On Tap drinks tasted watered down where later on I attained cronic acid indigestion likely from the cleaning fluid not flushed from the beer tap pipes. Really needs to focus on this to ensure continued customers.
