"A group of 9 visited for the Sunday buffet for a double Birthday celebration. We requested an additional seat at very short notice which was actioned immediately. The service, friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The food, plentiful and tasty. A lovely afternoon full of fab company, conversation and celebration with delicious Chinese food. Buffet included starters, mains and desserts. I provided celebratory cakes and candles that came out as requested with candles. Free parking in Stowmarket car parks on Sundays an added bonus. We had our table from midday and left around 14.45. We are all looking forward to another visit and will certainly book again in the future . Thank you for ensuring a surprise get together was a special afternoon out enjoyed by friends and family. Parking: Free parking available on Sundays in B M to the rear of the restaurant or the Theatre opposite the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Children were welcomed and catered for. "I wish I could pick The Highwayman up and move it back home with us! The atmosphere was so warm and relaxing, and the service was absolutely perfect with a very welcoming man behind the bar, and a lovely waitress who made sure we had everything we needed with our meal. The food was exceptional, exactly what we needed after a 3 1/2 hour car journey. I could not fault anything about our meal at The Highwayman and I would like to thank the team there for making it such an enjoyable evening for us! Vegetarian options: There is a board of vegetarian options. The red lentil and aubergine moussaka was delicious!"

"I saw on Google for Sunday roasts near me, the Magpie Combs Ford came up, we went in pub got a nice greeting from owner/staff and some locals, nice selection of beers, ales, apple wine on tap, frying come in small, medium and large, a local jokes have the big, then you don't have to eat til Tuesday. We have made ourselves for medium-sized, generous amount of meat with the choice of beef, pork meat, gammon between us all had 3, they were delicious and tender, then you have roasted pipes, roasted potatoes, filling, then you have about 10 vegs to choose from, the cauliflower/Brokoli cheese the sauce was so good, all the vegs cooked only perfect, then socen The Desserts list is also great, we had Belgium waffle and Marmelade Poly view photos, the Custard was so creamy. We have booked in advance, would definitely recommend this. Thank you to the Magpie, my only regret is that I am not a local because this is definitely my local pub if I did. Will be worth the trip."

"You absolutely must try their pancakes at least once! The gluten-free options are amazing. The atmosphere is wonderful, with plenty of space and extremely family-friendly. It's definitely worth a visit, although I always end up overeating because everything is so delicious!"

"I visited yesterday and had the mushrooms on sourdough, which were delicious, hot, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. However, my partner found his ham, egg, and chips to be quite unsatisfactory. I must admit, it didn't look appealing at all. His eggs were overcooked, the ham was only warm, and the portion size was on the small side. He didn't want to complain since we were with family and prefers not to make a fuss, but later he regretted not speaking up. We dined here last year, and he had the ham, egg, and chips then, which he found much better. My cousin ordered the loaded fries, which looked amazing, but it was disappointing that they only offered it with bacon and chicken. I believe Alder Carr is missing an opportunity here; I'm sure non-meat eaters would appreciate a vegetarian option if it were available."
