"We were so looking forward to trying this place out for the first time tonight Friday 10th Nov. We are very disappointed. The service was lovely. The atmosphere was great. The food was rubbish, seriously overpriced for what you get. We ordered olives and scallops for starters. The olives and bread were lovely. The scallops were slightly undercooked, a bit wet if you ask me and the linguine was too wet also. We ordered the special steak. I insisted on no fat. My steak was literally just fat. My husband’s was ok, my son and I couldn’t eat more than half. It was literally riddled with fatty tumours. Seriously disgusting. The roasted tomatoes were not roasted at all. They were just warm. I don’t know. Add a bit of olive oil and leave in the oven a little longer. The chips were fine. My husband enjoyed the chocolate mousse. My and my son’ s sticky toffee was ok but the custard is warmed up in microwave. It makes it lumpy with a thin coat on top. Not great. But most importantly the table was sticky all over. Use an actual sponge with actual soap and dry with a cloth. This is the only way it won’t be sticky! We paid £150 with no wine. We had a complimentary bottle with the steak special. We won’t go again. The food was not at all the standard it should be. Maybe it was a bad day. The place was busy but this is not for us. We like gourmet food and we thought that it was what we were going to get. If you want delicious food then this place is not the one. The manager and our waitress were lovely but that just wasn’t enough. Talk to the chef and don’t serve disgusting steak specials. Parking: We were told we had to pay for parking when we got there. That should be all over the website. So you get one hour free which means you have to leave in the middle of the meal to pay. Inconvenient for everyone. "I recently had lunch at this restaurant and was impressed by the variety of options on the menu, especially for vegetarians. The prices were reasonable and the quality of the food was great. I will definitely be returning in the future. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would highly recommend trying the Chicken Beyti, Couscous, Baklava, and Flatbread. There is plenty of parking available, with a free parking lot."

"This is the third time we've been to The Brickmakers for a meal since moving to the local area. The food is always delicious and this is definitely becoming a go-to place for food. Last night, spoilt for choice, I was convinced to go for the chicken and chorizo pasta from the Specials board. It was excellent with cream, white wine, pesto, home made pasta, rocket and other delicious ingredients. We shared a dessert, brioche bread and butter pudding, which was also delicious. It is obvious the owners know their stuff. The food surpasses most pub meals you'd experience with ambience and we'll trained staff too. Highly recommend this excellent independent country pub. I have to agree with the owner on the last comments here about not enough choice etc etc. The reviewer must have been expecting Tom Kerridge or Gordon Ramsey to be in the kitchen ... although in our experience we've tried both and neither are as good, (possibly more about the name than the food) the menu choices are more limited and both are way, way more expensive."

"We celebrated our daughter's birthday at The Farmer's Home and had a fantastic dinner. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. The staff was welcoming and provided excellent service. Despite living near Durley, we hadn't visited in 2 years and wondered why we hadn't returned sooner. We will definitely be coming back as the evening was wonderful. It was great to see a variety of vegetarian options on the menu. I had the vegetarian lasagna, which was beautifully cooked. Highly recommend for vegetarians looking for a tasty meal."

"Our working group from a local church have lunch out a couple of times a year always book a table here. Due to the pandemic this was the first time since 2019 we’d met up for lunch. The menu is much less varied than...previously, and although the staff were pleasant enough the atmosphere of the place was fairly dead. Whereas the food previously was generous, interesting and home-cooked, today it was indifferent, bland and disappointing. The chips were oven cooked, and tasteless with even the little overcooked potato fragments that lurk in the bottom of the freezer bag being served up. The ‘crispy’ batter on the fish had been cooked at too high a temperature the small pot of peas were not even drained properly. The pate appears to come in pre-moulded portions, and despite specifically asking for no raw onion it was served in the salad garnish. Needless to say we will be looking for somewhere else to eat in future."
